Due to the complexity of configuring clusters, you may wish to use Hewlett-Packard’s high availability consulting services to ensure a smooth installation and rollout. Please contact your HP representative to inquire about high availability consulting. In addition, you should work with your HP representative to ensure that you have the correct firmware revisions for disk drives, disk controllers, LAN controllers, and other hardware.
NOTE: • The following SG SMS releases cannot coexist with HP-UX 11i v3 March 2014 release: ◦ SG SMS A.04.00.00 ◦ SG SMS A.04.00.01 ◦ SG SMS A.04.01.00 The SG SMS releases listed requires lower version of VxVM and VxFS bundles than what is supported by HP-UX 11i v3 March 2014 release. Hence SG SMS releases listed cannot coexist with HP-UX 11i v3 March 2014 release. However this problem is fixed in SG SMS A.04.01.01, so you can now use SG SMS A.04.01.01 along with HP-UX 11i v3 March 2014 release.
See “Upgrading to a Different SG SMS Bundle” (page 21) for supported upgrade paths from legacy SG SMS bundles to SG SMS A.04.01.01 bundles. If you require assistance, or additional information, contact your HP support representative. What’s New with Serviceguard The following Serviceguard features and enhancements are supported in the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite version A.04.01.

What’s New with Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) The following VxVM features and enhancements are supported in the SG SMS version A.04.01.01 bundles: • Support for SSD — A solid-state disk (SSD) is solid-state storage that emulates a hard disk drive (HDD) interface. • The vxdmpinq utility renamed to the vxscsiinq utility — The diagnostic utility vxdmpinq has been renamed to the vxscsiinq utility.
NOTE: • The SG SMS Version A.04.01 contains the packaging fix that resolves an issue in the VRTSvxvm pre-install script due to which DRD clone does not boot when an upgrade is made from earlier bundles. • In the SG SMS Version A.04.00 release, cross bundle upgrades were not supported. SG SMS Version A.04.01.01 release supports the recommended paths to upgrade from your existing bundles to bundle 4 or bundle 7. If you are already using bundle 4 or bundle 7, there is no impact.

1 2 3 4 5 The T2772xx bundle is no longer available, starting with the SG SMS version A.02.01 release. Use the T2774CB or T2774DB bundle instead. The T2776xx bundle is no longer available as a "stand-alone" bundle starting with the SG SMS version A.02.01 release, except when it is included as a component of the T8686xx HA-OE bundle, or the T8696xx DC-OE bundle. Use the T2777CB or T2777DB bundle instead.
6. Rejoin the upgraded node to the cluster. You can do this in Serviceguard Manager or use the following command: # cmrunnode 7. 8. Repeat steps 2 to 5 for each node in the cluster. After all the nodes are upgraded to the new product version, run the following command on any of the nodes: # cfsruutil finish For more information, see the cfsruutil(1m) manpage. Limitations • During rolling upgrade, you cannot modify the hardware configuration, including the cluster’s network configuration.
Divide the cluster nodes into two groups. For purposes of explanation, we will refer to these groups of nodes as Group A and Group B. In explaining this procedure we assume groups of equal size will be the most efficient approach. It is not necessary to divide the cluster nodes into groups of equal size, if some other arrangement will work better in your computing environment. • If the cluster has an even number of nodes, assign half of the nodes to Group A and the other half to Group B.
For more information on DRD, go to: http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/w1/en/os/ hpux11i-system-management-dynamic-root-disk.html You can use DRD to upgrade from SG SMS A.02.01 or later to SG SMS A.04.01.01. NOTE: • With Veritas Version 5.1 SP1 the Enclosure Based Naming (EBN) feature is turned on by default.
NOTE: Before attempting a SG SMS bundle installation or upgrade, you must disable AUTOSTART_CMCLD. See “Disabling Cluster Auto-Start on Reboot” (page 26) NOTE: SG SMS Version A.04.01.01 bundles cannot be installed over OnlineJFS 5.0 (B3929FB), which is included with the HP-UX March 2011 OE Update Release for HA-OE, and DC-OE. To install a SG SMS Version A.04.01.01 bundle, follow these steps: 1. Remove B3929FB. If the bundle is not found, remove OnlineJFS01.VXFS50-AD-RN,r=5.0 and AONLINEJFS,r=B.05.00.01. 2.
c. d. Download the patches into a single file, extract the contents, and create a single depot using the instructions included with the download. Install the patches using the option “patch_match_target=true”. This ensures that only the patches from the depot that match the installed bundle are installed. 5. After installation of any required product patches is completed, run vxinstall. If vxinstall has already been run on the systems, this step may be skipped.
9. For new installations you will need to create an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite cluster, see Managing Serviceguard 19th Edition for details on configuring the cluster. A high-level summary of the steps involved in using the Cluster File System includes: a. Create and start a Serviceguard cluster without a package using Serviceguard Manager or Serviceguard commands (cmquerycl, cmcheckconf, cmapplyconf, cmruncl). b.
