HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.02.00 for HP-UX 11i v3 Release Notes, April 2008

NOTE: If HP-UX native multipathing is configured with any SG SMS bundle installed on
HP-UX 11i v3, data corruption may occur. A fix for QXCR1000792212 will enable HP-UX native
multipathing on SG SMS bundles that do not include CVM (SG SMS bundles that include CVM
cannot support HP-UX native multipathing). At this time, only Veritas DMP is supported as a
multipathing solution for all SG SMS bundles installed on HP-UX 11i v3.
What’s New with Serviceguard
HP Storage Management Suite version 2.0 for HP-UX 11i v3 includes HP Serviceguard version
A.11.18.
As of April 2008, new features and enhancements for HP Serviceguard version A.11.18 that are
supported in the SG SMS version 2.0 for HP-UX 11i v3 bundles include:
• New, streamlined package-creation process using modular packages
• Explicit support for external scripts
• General-purpose support for package dependencies on the same node
• General-purpose support for multi-node packages (volume groups must be mounted in
shared mode)
• Support for online changes to AUTO_START_TIMEOUT cluster parameters
• Increased support for VLAN
• Support for HP Integrity Virtual Machines (HPVM) version 3.5
• Support for cluster lock LUN
• Support for PIDs up to maximum size supported by HP-UX
• Support for hostnames up to 39 characters
• Support for HP-UX device-management capabilities such as agile addressing
NOTE: As of April 2008, the following Serviceguard A.11.18 features are not supported with
SG SMS version 2.0 for HP-UX 11i v3 bundles:
• Extended Distance Clusters (EDC) not yet supported (see QXCR1000795704 for more
information)
• HEARTBEAT_INTERVAL, NODE_TIMEOUT
• Support for online addition and deletion of heartbeat and data network interfaces along
with the corresponding HEARTBEAT_IP and STATIONARY_IP cluster parameters
• Increased support for APA
The following Serviceguard version A.11.18 features and enhancements are provided by patch
PHSS_37095:
• Support for clusters that span subnets connected by a router (for both data and heartbeat)
• Support for threaded option (-T) to vgchange
• Package changes including support for migrating packages from “legacy” (pre-A.11.18) to
“modular” form
• VxVM or CVM volume monitoring
• Support for an alternate Quorum Server subnet, and an increase in the number of clusters
and nodes supportable by a single Quorum Server to 150 clusters and 300 nodes - introduced
with Quorum Server version A.03.00
