HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.02.00 for HP-UX 11i v3 Release Notes, 3rd Edition, November 2008
QXCR1000819271: VxVM commands are hanging in EDC testing
• What is the problem? In an Extended Distance Cluster (EDC) configuration that has separate
heartbeat and FibreChannel links, when the FibreChannel link between the two sites is
disconnected and then reconnected a few minutes after a FiberChannel failure is detected,
VxVM commands such as vxprint, vxdg, vxdisk, and vxdmpadm will hang when they
are executed on the master and slave nodes of a CFS cluster. During this time, the vxconfigd
daemon can consume 100% of the CPU on the master node. This issue is only seen when
the FibreChannel link is disconnected and then reconnected, while heartbeat traffic continues
without interruption.
• What is the workaround? You must TOC, or reboot, all of the nodes (master and slave) to
recover from this problem.
QXCR1000856643: Incorrect enclosure status during EDC testing
• What is the problem? In an Extended Distance Cluster (EDC) configuration, after the
FibreChannel link between the two sites is disconnected, executing the vxdmpadm
listenclosure all command returns the status of disconnected EVA(s) as
DISCONNECTED on the master node, but the status of the disconnected EVA(s) is returned
as CONNECTED on the slave node(s). Note: The actual status of disks belonging to a
disconnected EVA can be determined by executing the ioscan command.
• What is the workaround? Execute the vxdisk scandisks command to recover from this
problem.
QXCR1000555745: odm_gms_api_start_msgs fails during system startup
• What is the problem? Errors returned during system startup:
GAB WARNING V-15-1-20115 Port d registration failed, GAB not
configured vxgms: GAB_API_REGISTER error=261
ODM WARNING V-41-6-5 odm_gms_api_start_msgs fails
• What is the workaround? Ignore the messages.
QXCR1000756219: VRTSdbm3 Issue with SG SMS Upgrade
• What is the problem?
When attempting to upgrade a SG SMS version A.02.00 for HP-UX 11i v2 bundle that contains
the VRTSdbms3 package to a SG SMS version A.02.00 for HP-UX 11i v3 bundle, the DBMS
server cannot be started. The following error message is printed in the swm and swagent
logs:
ERROR: Could not start DBMS server instance. Please check error.
ERROR: Return code: 2
ERROR: Installation has failed!
* Running "configure" script for product "VRTSdbms3". failed with 3
errors.
ERROR: The "configure" script for "VRTSdbms3" failed (exit code "1"). The
script location was
"/var/adm/sw/products/VRTSdbms3.2/pfiles/configure".
In addition to these errors during an update, errors will also be seen with a swverify
operation for VRTSdbed, VRTSdbcom and ASGV* products. You are advised to ignore these
ERROR messages as they are being reported for dependencies that these products define
on VRTSdbms3, which does not appear to be in the right state after an update. A sample of
these ERROR messages follows:
The corequisite "VRTSdbms3.VXDBMS,l=/opt,r=3.0.244.0" for
fileset "VRTSdbed.DBED,l=/,r=5.0.31.0" cannot be successfully
resolved.
ERROR: The dependencies for fileset "VRTSdbed.DBED,l=/,r=5.0.31.0"
cannot be resolved (see previous lines).
