HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.02.00 for HP-UX 11i v3 Release Notes, 3rd Edition, November 2008

1. Copy the contents of your 11i v3 OE media, for example /11iv3OE_DVD, to an HP-UX
depot, for example:
/var/depots/my_hpux_depot
If there are multiple 11i v3 OE DVDs, repeat this with each DVD:
swcopy -s /11iv3OE_DVD \* @ /var/depots/my_hpux_depot
Or, to use interactive swcopy command to automatically mount and unmount the DVD,
do the following and select Find Local CD-ROM in the Specify Source screen:
swcopy -i \* @ /var/depots/my_hpux_depot
2. Copy the contents of the HP-UX Serviceguard and HP Storage Management Products media,
for example /11iv3SG_DVD, into the same HP-UX depot. If there are multiple Serviceguard
and Storage Management DVDs, repeat this with each DVD:
swcopy -s /11iv3SG_DVD \* @ /var/depots/my_hpux_depot
Or use interactive swcopy as shown in step 1.
3. If you plan to use this HP-UX depot to update systems other than the system where the
depot resides, the HP-UX depot must be registered. The swcopy command will automatically
register the depot when it is first created, but it is harmless to register it again just to be sure
it is visible to other systems. To do this, enter:
swreg -l depot @ /var/depots/my_hpux_depot
NOTE: HP-UX 11i v3 and an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite for HP-UX 11i
v3 non-CFS bundle (T2771CB, T2772CB, T2773CB, T2774CB, T8684CB, or T8694CB) can be
installed on each node as part of a rolling upgrade. See “Upgrading to a Different SG SMS
Bundle” (page 24) for more information on rolling upgrades.
Installing HP-UX 11i v3 and an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite for HP-UX 11i
v3 CFS bundle (T2775CB, T2776CB, T2777CB, T8685CB, T8686CB, T8687CB, T8695CB,
T8696CB, or T8697CB) requires an offline upgrade. See “Upgrading to a Different SG SMS
Bundle” (page 24) for more information on offline upgrades.
4. On each 11i v2 system to be updated, enter the following command:
update-ux -s depot_server:/var/depots/my_hpux_depot\ !Base-VXVM
Base-VXFS Base-VxFS-50 Base-VxTools-50\ Base-VxVM-50 VxFS-SDK-50
!B3929EA !B9116CB <SG SMS Bundle>
If the HP-UX depot resides on the system being updated, the depot_server: portion of
this command can be omitted or you can specify the local hostname, otherwise
depot_server: is the hostname of the system where the my_hpux_depot resides followed
by a “:” (colon).
This command will update your system to HP-UX 11i v3 with the HP Serviceguard Storage
Management Suite version A.02.00 for HP-UX 11i v3 bundle (which includes VxFS 5.0, VxVM
5.0). The!B3929EA and !Base-VXVM entries on the command line ensure that OnlineJFS
and VxVM 4.l are not installed from the depot during the update.
When updating from an 11iv2 system containing VxVM 3.5, a message similar to the following
may be displayed:
WARNING: The following was found while selecting software:
- There are new revisions of SW available in the source that would update SW already installed on the system.
The newer revisions are not selected for installation. This will leave the incompatible old revision of SW on
the system. The affected SW is:
- VRTSfspro.FSPRO-PRG,r=4.1x replaces
VRTSfspro.FSPRO-PRG,r=3.5_2_ga08.006
- VRTSfspro,r=4.1x replaces VRTSfspro,r=3.5_2_ga08.006
- VRTSob.VEAS-FILESET,r=3.2.555.1 replaces
VRTSob.VEAS-FILESET,r=3.2.532.0.001
- VRTSob,r=3.2.555.1 replaces VRTSob,r=3.2.532.0.001
- VRTSobgui.VEA-FILESET,r=3.2.555.1 replaces
VRTSobgui.VEA-FILESET,r=3.2.532.0.001
