What’s New with Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle
As of November 2008, for HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite version 2.0 for HP-UX
11i v3 bundles that include the Veritas™ Storage Foundation for Oracle, the following new
features are supported:
• Oracle 10gR2 is supported and Oracle certified with HP Serviceguard Storage Management
Suite version 2.0 for HP-UX 11i v3
• Oracle 11gR1 is supported and Oracle certified with HP Serviceguard Storage Management
Suite version 2.0 for HP-UX 11i v3
• Database Dynamic Storage Tiering (DBDST) — moves less-frequently used data to slower,
less expensive disks, making room for frequently-accessed data to be stored on faster disks
for quicker retrieval
• Improved Task Scheduler — the GUI for the task scheduler has been improved to permit
more flexibility in scheduling tasks
• Modified Clone Initialization Parameters — initialization parameters that cause clones to
use system resources in a more efficient way than the primary database
• Enhanced Deep Mapping
• Table Level Mapping — a table name can be used as input to the dbed_analyzer command
to list the disk the table resides in and the space it occupies on each disk
• Oracle Resilvering — the storage layer receives information from the Oracle database on
which regions or blocks of a mirrored data file to resync after a system crash
• The following Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle CLI commands have been enhanced:
— dbed_clonedb new -p pfile_modification_file option has been added to
specify modified initialization parameters (contained in pfile_modification_file)
for the clone
— dbed_vmclonedb new -p pfile_modification_file option has been added
to specify modified initialization parameters (contained in
pfile_modification_file) for the clone
— dbed_analyzer new option -o mode=table [-f file |-t table] lists the
disk the specified table resides on and how much space it consumes
