Upgrading to a Different SG SMS Bundle
Upgrades to HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles can fall into any one of three categories:
• Rolling Upgrade - The upgrade is done online
• Offline Upgrade - The cluster nodes must be taken offline and all nodes must be upgraded with the same SG SMS
bundle
• Uninstall - The current SG SMS bundle must be uninstalled before the new SG SMS bundle can be installed, then the
software

Using the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Supported Upgrade Paths Matrix
The arrows ( → ) in the horizontal rows show the supported upgrade paths for various SG SMS bundles:
• The SG SMS version number (for example, A.03.00), and dependencies (HP-UX version, Serviceguard version, Veritas™
Storage Foundation version), are listed vertically at the top of the column for each SG SMS version - followed by the bundle
product numbers (for example, T2774CB) that are available within that SG SMS version.
• You can do rolling upgrades of any SG SMS bundles within the same horizontal row, if the letter R is in the upgrade path.
• Upgrade paths that require an Offline Upgrade, are indicated by the letter O.
• “Skipping ahead” within the same row, for example upgrading from a SG SMS version A.03.00 T2774DB bundle to a SG SMS
version A.04.00.01 T2774EB bundle, is supported only if all of the upgrade paths between the currently installed SG SMS version
and the SG SMS version you want to upgrade to are marked with an R.

Supported Upgrade Paths to SG SMS Bundles on HP-UX 11i v3
NOTE:
- [a] Within a bundle family, you can upgrade any of the MCOE bundle versions to the DCOE bundle for HP-UX 11i v3,
without removing the MCOE bundle.
- If you are using SG SMS bundle 1 to bundle 3, you can upgrade to bundle 4 of A.04.01.
- If you are using SG SMS bundle 5 or 6, you can upgrade to bundle 7 of A.04.01.
- If a newly installed bundle includes the same version of a product that was previously installed and patched, the
patches may need to be installed again.
- If you are using SG SMS A.04.00, you need not upgrade to SG SMS A.04.01, as both the releases are functionally
same.
- If there is a cluster configured on a node, the swremove command will not let you remove SG SMS from that node. You
must halt the node, remove the node from the cluster, and then use swremove to remove SG SMS.
- The procedure for rolling or offline upgrades of SG SMS HAOE or DCOE bundles requires additional steps.
