HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite A.04.01 Release Notes (March 2012)

NOTE:
• With Veritas Version 5.1 SP1 the Enclosure Based Naming (EBN) feature is turned on by
default. While cloning a disk when EBN is on, messages similar to the following may appear:
WARNING: Could not find "/dev/dsk/eva44000_7" in inventory
WARNING: Could not find "/dev/dsk/eva44000_8" in inventory
WARNING: Could not find "/dev/dsk/eva44000_9" in inventory
These messages can be safely ignored. To turn the EBN feature off, use the following command:
vxddladm set namingscheme=osn mode=legacy
• If SG SMS A.02.01 is currently installed, and you plan to upgrade your SG SMS version
using DRD, there is a known issue already documented in some versions of Serviceguard's
checkinstall script. This checkinstall script issue is also documented in
QXCR1000901306 at: www.hp.com/go/hpsc. Refer to the workaround notes in
QXCR1000901306 for instructions on how to perform this type of SG SMS upgrade.
HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Compatibility with HP-UX Releases
HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.04.01 bundles are designated “TxxxxEB”
- they are compatible with HP-UX 11i v3 only.
NOTE: HP-UX 11iv3 is supported with up to 64k lunpaths, however, Veritas™ products included
in the SG SMS Version A.04.01 bundles limit SG SMS lunpath support to a maximum of 32k
lunpaths on HP-UX 11i v3.
System Requirements
HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles run on HP 9000 or HP Integrity Servers.
Using both types of servers in the same cluster is supported.
Disk Requirements
Installation of any HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle requires a minimum of 550
MB of disk space in the root file system.
Before Installing HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.04.01
Before installing an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle, consult with your HP
representative to make sure that the cluster has the correct hardware upgrades and supported
firmware revisions. Also check for any updated patch requirements for the software products being
installed.
Patches for HP products and Veritas™ products included in the HP Serviceguard Storage
Management Suite bundles can be downloaded at: http://www.hp.com/go/sgsms/patches
NOTE: Before attempting a SG SMS bundle installation or upgrade, you must disable
AUTOSTART_CMCLD. See “Disabling Cluster Auto-Start on Reboot” (page 26)
NOTE: SG SMS Version A.04.01 bundles cannot be installed over OnlineJFS 5.0 (B3929FB),
which is included with the HP-UX March 2011 OE Update Release for HAOE, and DCOE. To
install a SG SMS Version A.04.01 bundle, follow these steps:
1. Remove B3929FB. If the bundle is not found, remove OnlineJFS01.VXFS50-AD-RN,r=5.0
and AONLINEJFS,r=B.05.00.01.
2. Install the SG SMS Version A.04.01 bundle.
