HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite A.03.00 Release Notes

System Requirements
HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundles run on HP 9000 or HP Integrity Servers.
Using both types of servers in the same cluster is supported.
Disk Requirements
Installation of any HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle requires a minimum of 550
MB of disk space in the root file system.
Before Installing HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.03.00
Before installing an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle, consult with your HP
representative to make sure that the cluster has the correct hardware upgrades and supported
firmware revisions. Also check for any updated patch requirements for the software products being
installed.
Patches for HP products and Veritas™ products included in the HP Serviceguard Storage
Management Suite bundles can be downloaded at: http://www.hp.com/go/sgsms/patches
NOTE: Before attempting a SG SMS bundle installation or upgrade, you must disable
AUTOSTART_CMCLD. See “Disabling Cluster Auto-Start on Reboot” (page 23)
NOTE: SG SMS 5.0.1 bundles cannot be installed over OnlineJFS 5.0 (B3929FB), which is
included with the HP-UX September 2009 OE Update Release for HAOE, DCOE and VSE-OE. To
install a SG SMS 5.0.1 bundle, follow these steps:
1. Remove B3929FB. If the bundle is not found, remove OnlineJFS01.VXFS50-AD-RN,r=5.0
and AONLINEJFS,r=B.05.00.01.
2. Install the SG SMS 5.0.1 bundle.
Installing HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite
To install software, run the SD-UX swinstall command. It will invoke a user interface that will
lead you through the installation. For additional information and tips on installing HP-UX and HP
applications see the HP-UX 11i Version 3 Installation and Update Guide available at: www.hp.com/
go/hpux-serviceguard-docs ->HP Serviceguard in the HP-UX 11i v3 Operating Environment section.
For information on installing Veritas products including VxVM or VxFS, see the Veritas 5.0 Installation
Guide included on the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite media and also available at:
www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs ->HP Serviceguard.
Installation of an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle automatically handles
dependencies on base-VxFS and base-VxVM as well as between products included in the bundles.
Installation steps should be performed in the following order:
1. If this is not an initial installation of SMS and an offline upgrade is performed, you must
shutdown the cluster. See Table 6 (page 22) for details on when a rolling or offline upgrade
is supported.
2. HP-UX 11i v3 (with all required patches) is required for loading an HP Serviceguard Storage
Management Suite bundle.
If the system has a pre-5.0 version of Veritas Volume Manager already installed, the
installation process overwrites that version of the product.
3. Install the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle. For bundles T2771DB,
T2773DB, T2774DB, T2775DB, or T2777DB, use the Serviceguard and Storage Management
Products media.
