The following new features and enhancements are included in the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite version A.03.00 bundles for HP-UX 11i v3 : • Serviceguard CFS clusters now support APA in the hearbeat network. • Serviceguard CFS clusters use MEMBER_TIMEOUT to specify how long it takes for a node to time out. NODE_TIMEOUT and HEARTBEAT_INTERVAL are replaced by MEMBER_TIMEOUT in SG SMS version A.03.00.
• New Serviceguard Manager capabilities • New -K option for cmgetconf that causes cmgetconf to skip probing of volume groups, allowing the command to complete faster; the resulting cluster configuration file will not contain a list of cluster-aware volume groups • Improved support for nested mount points NOTE: For more information on Serviceguard features and enhancements that are supported with SG SMS version A.03.00 for HP-UX 11i v3 bundles, see the HP Serviceguard Version A.11.
What’s New with Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) The following VxVM features and enhancements are supported in the SG SMS version A.03.00 for HP-UX 11i v3 bundles: • The SmartMove™ feature — reduces the time and I/O required to attach or reattach a plex to an existing VxVM volume, in the specific case where a VxVM volume has a VxFS file system mounted on it.
◦ The vxdg settag command now provides an option for automatic tagging of a site ◦ The vxdg command provides a new renamesite option • The vxvmconvert command displays the estimated time required for a volume conversion operation, before the conversion operation is committed. • The vxsited daemon has been renamed to vxattachd and it now also handles automatic reattachment and resynchronization for plexes.

copying the relevant software components from SG SMS OE bundle media and copying the required Serviceguard and ECMT versions from the HP-UX OE media. A single swinstall command is used for the installation. For the HP-UX update, Serviceguard and ECMT are excluded from the update when you run the update-ux command. General information about updating to HP-UX 11i v3 with update-ux, is available at:www.hp.
NOTE: Before attempting to remove a SG SMS bundle: — Follow any guidelines for software removal of the individual products included in the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle. In general, products should be halted and unconfigured before removal. — If any independently installed products have installation dependencies on a product in the installed SG SMS bundle, these products must be removed before the bundle can be removed.
You can also search for individual patches on the Hewlett-Packard Support Center (HPSC) web site: http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc Patches can be superseded or withdrawn at any time, so always be sure to check the status of a patch before downloading it. Individual products included in an HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite bundle or other products installed on your system may require additional patches. SG SMS 5.0.1/v3 installation fails on September 2009 OE Update Release if Full-VxVM 5.0 (B9116CB) is installed (QXCR1000973245) A SG SMS 5.0.1 bundle cannot be installed over Full-VxVM 5.0 (B9116CB). To install a SG SMS 5.0.1 bundle, follow these steps: 1. Upgrade to Full-VxVM 5.0.1 (B9116DB). 2. Install the SG SMS 5.0.1 bundle. Contact your HP representative if you need assistance.
Adding a Node to a CFS Cluster The following example illustrates how you can add one node (node3) to a cluster consisting of two CFS nodes (node1 and node2): 1. Ensure that the new node (node3) is connected to the storage. Ensure that all CVM disks used in other nodes are seen by the new node (node3). 2. Ensure that the new node is connected to appropriate heartbeat networks, the same as the other nodes in the cluster.
3. Delete node2 from all of the application packages. Edit all application package configuration files and remove node2 from the package configuration. Re-apply the package configuration: cmapplyconf -f -P app-pkg-config-file 4. Delete node2 from the /mpt configuration - that is, modify the CFS mount point packages and remove node2 from their configuration: cfsmntadm modify /mpt delete node2 This step must be repeated for all CFS mount-point Multi-Node packages. 5.
12. Mount the file system on the new node using the cfsmount command. 13. Run the cfscluster status command to check the status of the CFS/CVM DG and mount points. 14. Steps #11 to #13 must be repeated for all of the volumes present on the current DG. If there are more DGs repeat steps #9 to #13. 15. Extend the Oracle Clusterware software to the new node. For more information on extending the Oracle Clusterware software, see the Oracle Database documentation. 16.
7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. Disable AUTOSTART_CMCLD in /etc/rc.config.d/cmcluster on the node that is being deleted, by setting AUTOSTART_CMCLD to zero: (AUTO_START_CMCLD=0) Run cmhaltnode -f to halt the node that is being removed from the cluster. The -f option will halt all the packages that are running on the node that is being deleted. Delete a node from a Mount Point (MP) package using the cfsmntadm modify delete command.
HP strongly recommends that you use DRL with mirrored data volumes in a clustered environment to enable faster volume recovery. However, Oracle database volumes should be configured without DRL, because the Oracle database application keeps its own logs and does not require VxVM to maintain logs. For information on DRL and the Veritas™ SmartSync Recovery Accelerator, see the Veritas™ Volume Manager Administrator’s Guide, HP-UX 11i v3, 5.0.1.
