Legacy Packages
In A.11.19, you can still create new packages using the legacy method (the method
used before Serviceguard A.11.18; see “Configuring a Legacy Package” in Chapter 7
of Managing Serviceguard). In some cases new capabilities provided in modular packages
(those created by the method introduced in A.11.18) have been added to legacy packages
as well. But after A.11.19, new features will be implemented only in modular packages.
IMPORTANT: Support for legacy packages will be withdrawn altogether in a future
release. Use the modular method to create new packages whenever possible.
See Chapter 6 of Managing Serviceguard for more information.
STORAGE_GROUP Deprecated
The STORAGE_GROUP parameter (in the package configuration file for legacy
packages) is deprecated as of Serviceguard A.11.19.
This parameter was intended only for the support of CVM 3.5, which is not supported
by A.11.19. In current versions, a package using CVM disk groups for raw access
(without CFS) needs to declare a dependency on SG-CFS-pkg; see “Creating the
Storage Infrastructure with Veritas Cluster Volume Manager (CVM)” in Chapter 5 of
Managing Serviceguard for more information.
.rhosts Deprecated
Using the .rhosts file as a means of allowing root access to an unconfigured node is
deprecated as of Serviceguard A.11.19; support for this method will be withdrawn in
a future release. You should use $SGCONF/cmclnodelist instead. See “Allowing
Root Access to an Unconfigured Node” in Chapter 5 of Managing Serviceguard for more
information.
cmviewconf Deprecated
cmviewconf is deprecated as of Serviceguard A.11.19; this command will be obsolete
in a future release. Use cmviewcl to obtain information about the cluster. See
“Reviewing Cluster and Package Status” in Chapter 7 of Managing Serviceguard for
more information.
Serviceguard Extension for Faster Failover Obsolete
Performance improvements in the New Cluster Manager (page 12) make the
Serviceguard Extension for Faster Failover (SGeFF) obsolete. If SGeFF is present, it will
be removed from the system when you install Serviceguard A.11.19.
