HP Serviceguard Version A.11.18 Release Notes, September 2008
— Serviceguard now supports the LACP_AUTO (IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation
Control Protocol) mode of Auto Port Aggregation (APA), with up to 32 ports
per link aggregate; and supports up to eight ports per link aggregate for the
MANUAL and FEC_AUTO (Cisco proprietary Fast EtherChannel) modes. (The
former maximum for MANUAL and FEC_AUTO was 4 ports per link aggregate,
and LACP_AUTO mode was not supported.)
For information about implementing APA with Serviceguard, see the latest
version of the HP Auto Port Aggregation (APA) Support Guide and other APA
documents posted at docs.hp.com in the IO Cards and Networking
Software collection.
— Serviceguard now supports Virtual LANs (VLANs) over APA. (VLANs over
physical interfaces were already supported.)
For more information, see the sections “Automatic Port Aggregation” and
“Configuring VLANs” in Chapter 3 of the latest edition of Managing Serviceguard
in the High Availability collection on docs.hp.com.
— You can now use cmmodnet to enable or disable a LAN_name currently
configured in a cluster. (Note that if you use cmmodnet to disable a LAN_name
on a node that subsequently leaves the cluster, the LAN_name will be re-enabled
if the node then rejoins the cluster.) Extreme caution should be exercised when
executing this command outside the context of a package; see the entry for
cmmodnet in Appendix A of Managing Serviceguard, and the cmmodnet (1m)
manpage.
• You can now change cluster timing-configuration parameters while the cluster is
running; see “New Online Timing-Configuration Capabilities” (page 45).
• You can now configure a LUN as the cluster lock. See “About Lock LUNs”
(page 45).
• Hostnames for Serviceguard cluster nodes can be up to 39 characters (bytes) long.
(The former limit was 31 characters.)
NOTE: On HP-UX 11i v2 systems, the vgdisplay command will display only
the first 31 characters.
• A new volume monitor for VxVM and CVM is provided in the patches listed under
“September 2008 Patch” (page 13). See “About the Volume Monitor” (page 49).
• With the patches listed under “September 2008 Patch” (page 13) you can configure
an alternate subnet for communication between the cluster nodes and a Quorum
Server. See “Alternate Quorum Server Subnet” (page 51).
• A quorum server can now support up to 150 clusters comprising up to 300 nodes.
The previous limits were 50 clusters and 100 nodes. The new limits are supported
in Quorum Server versions A.02.04 and later.
