HP Serviceguard Version A.11.18 Release Notes, September 2008

New Serviceguard Features Common to HP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v3
Serviceguard A.11.18 on HP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v3 supports version 5.0 of the Veritas
Volume Manager (VxVM), the Veritas Cluster Volume Manager (CVM), and the
Veritas Cluster File System (CFS) from Symantec.
The 4.1 versions of these products are also supported with Serviceguard A.11.18.
See “Support for Veritas 5.0 on HP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v3” (page 25).
There is a new, modular method of configuring packages; see About Modular
Packages” (page 26).
In addition, in the patches listed under “September 2008 Patch” (page 13),
Serviceguard provides a means of automatically migrating existing (legacy)
packages to modular packages. See “Migrating Legacy to Modular Packages”
(page 38).
(Additional changes specifically support migrating HP Toolkits to the modular
method. The converted versions will be provided in support of a future
Serviceguard release; do not try to convert HP Toolkit packages yourself.)
You can now configure a package to be dependent on another package. See About
Package Dependencies” (page 38).
You can now create multi-node packages. See About Multi-Node Packages”
(page 38).
Other new package capabilities are provided in the patches listed under “September
2008 Patch” (page 13); see “Other Package Changes” (page 40).
A new Serviceguard Manager graphical user interface (GUI) is being supplied as
a plug-in to the System Management Homepage (SMH). The standalone version
of Serviceguard Manager (also known as the station-management version) is
obsolete.
See About the Serviceguard Manager SMH Plug-In” (page 53).
There are new networking capabilities:
Serviceguard now supports cross-subnet configurations.
The patches listed under “September 2008 Patch” (page 13) allow you to
configure multiple subnets, joined by a router, both for the cluster heartbeat
and for data, with some nodes using one subnet and some another. See About
Cross-Subnet Configurations” (page 40).
Additional changes (including the addition of the parameters SITE_NAME
and SITE to the cluster configuration file) support site-aware
disaster-tolerant clusters, which require additional software (see “For More
Information” (page 42)).
You can now make significant changes to the clusters networking configuration
while the cluster is running; see “New Online Networking-Configuration
Capabilities” (page 43).
