What’s in this Version
This A.11.17 version of Serviceguard is a platform release. This release
contains new functionality, defect repairs and support for new hardware
configurations. Highlights of the release are as follows:
Serviceguard A.11.17 supports the same configurations as previous
versions.
The following features are new for Serviceguard A.11.17:
Serviceguard A.11.17 has been tested with HP-UX 11i Security
containment. Details are documented in the HP-UX 11i Security
Containment Administrator’s Guide, posted at
http://docs.hp.com.
HP Fabric Clustering System for InfiniBand is supported with
Serviceguard to be used as cluster heartbeat and data networks
using IPoIB. For more details, see IPoIB Administrators Guide
posted at http://docs.hp.com.
The hostnames within the Serviceguard cluster are now limited to 31

Serviceguard now incorporates enhanced security that was initially
released as a patch to address security bulletin HPSBUX01080.
Serviceguard now uses the identd daemon to enhance security. For
more details, see the white paper Securing Serviceguard, October
2004, posted at http://docs.hp.com -> high availability ->
Serviceguard -> White Papers.

provide and maintain the integrity and high availability for your
data. It is possible, however, to disable it if you want; see “Enhanced
Security” on page 26.
The memory allocation for packages has changed. When you create
the cluster, Serviceguard now reserves enough memory for the

memory based on the value of MAX_CONFIGURED_PACKAGES
that was specified in the configuration file. Also, the default for the
MAX_CONFIGURED_PACKAGES parameter has changed. The
