Serviceguard Version A.11.17 Release Notes
Whatâs in this Version
Chapter 110
This tool is especially useful for creating consolidated syslogs and
package logs in a Serviceguard cluster. This simplifies system
and package monitoring and problem diagnosis
â Command fan-out tool provides high performance tools for
executed shell commands and distributing files across the
members of a Serviceguard cluster. The cluster-aware tools offer
cluster-wide general purpose command fan-out, ps, copy, kill, and
uptime operations.
Support for CFS and CVM 4.1
To implement CVM/CFS 4.1 support, Serviceguard ships a new system
multi-node package, SG-CFS-pkg. This package is similar to the existing
system multi-node package, VxVM-CVM-pkg, which is only used for
VERITAS Cluster Volume Manager 3.5.
In addition, it introduces a new package type, the multi-node package.
Like system multi-node packages, multi-node packages do not fail over,
and can run on more than one node at a time. Unlike system multi-node
packages, they do not have to run on every active node in the cluster, but
can be configured to run on specific nodes.
These function for CFS much like the STORAGE_GROUP parameter
functions for CVM 3.5. They allow an application package to build a
dependency on another package, such as a dependency on a cluster
filesystem package or disk group package.
Two multi-node packages that work with SG-CFS-pkg are included in
this release. The CFS multi-node packages are SG-CFS-MP-ID#, the
mount point package, and SG-CFS-DG-ID#, the disk group package.
CFS packages use a new parameter set, added to the package
configuration file that you can use to create dependencies. This
parameter ensures that a package will not start on a node unless its
dependency package is up and running on that node.
In this release, the concept of simple dependencies is introduced. When a
dependency is configured in a package, the package cannot be started on
a node unless the dependency is up and running on that node. At the
time of release, only two multi-node packages are supported: mount
point package, SG-CFS-MP-ID# and the disk group package,
SG-CFS-DG-ID#. Both are shipped with Serviceguard A.11.17. CFS uses
a chain of dependencies:
