What’s in this Release
This release of Serviceguard A.11.17 (also known as A.11.17.01) supports
HP-UX 11i v3 and adds new functionality, specifically:
• Serviceguard supports HP-UX agile addressing, sometimes also
called persistent LUN binding, for device special files (DSFs).
See “About Device Special Files (DSFs)” on page 13.
• Serviceguard supports HP-UX native multipathing and load
balancing.
See “Native Multipathing, Veritas DMP, and Related Features” on
page 8.
• A new Serviceguard Manager graphical user interface (GUI) is being
supplied as a plug-in to the System Management Homepage (SMH).
The standalone version of Serviceguard Manager (also known as the
station-management version) is still available, and has been
updated for use with Serviceguard A.11.17 on HP-UX 11i v3.
See “About the Serviceguard Manager SMH Plug-In” on page 16.
• There are new networking capabilities:
—The HP-UX olrad -C command now identifies network interface
cards (NICs) that are part of the Serviceguard cluster
configuration.
See “About olrad” on page 15.
— Serviceguard now supports the LACP_AUTO (IEEE 802.3ad Link
Aggregation Control Protocol) mode of Auto Port Aggregation
(APA), with up to 32 ports per link aggregate; and supports up to
eight ports per link aggregate for the MANUAL and FEC_AUTO
(Cisco proprietary Fast EtherChannel) modes. (The former
maximum for MANUAL and FEC_AUTO was 4 ports per link
aggregate, and LACP_AUTO mode was not supported.)
For information about implementing APA with Serviceguard, see
the latest version of the HP Auto Port Aggregation (APA) Support
Guide and other APA documents posted at docs.hp.com in the IO
Cards and Networking Software collection.
