Serviceguard NFS Toolkit Overview HP Serviceguard Network File Server (NFS) Toolkit uses HP Serviceguard to set up highly available NFS servers. You must set up a Serviceguard cluster before you can set up Highly Available (HA) NFS. Serviceguard NFS Toolkit is a separately purchased set of configuration files and control script, which you can customize for your specific needs. An NFS server is a host that exports its local directories and makes them available for client hosts to mount using NFS.
Announcement Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.03 supports Serviceguard A.11.18 and the Veritas Cluster File System (CFS). In a CFS environment, all nodes in the Serviceguard cluster can concurrently access the files in the CFS. The NFS servers in the cluster can concurrently access and export directories in the CFS. As a result, CFS enables NFS clients (typically located outside the cluster) to concurrently use multiple NFS servers to access files.
Limitations The following lists the limitations of using Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.03 with Serviceguard A.11.18 and CFS: • Lock coherency for multiple NFS servers is not supported. NFS file lock coherency is not supported when multiple NFS servers are concurrently accessing a file. Lock operations does not return an error, but lock coherency is not guaranteed. This may cause data corruption or cause an application to hang.
New and Changed Features in This Version This release contains the following new enhancements and changes: Supports Highly Available NFSv4 servers Supports SecureNFS with Kerberos Environment 8
New Fixes in the Version A.11.31.03 Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.03 provides the following defect fixes: Table 1 New Fixes in the Version A.11.31.03 DTS Number Problem Description QXCR1000811005 rpc.lockd sometimes does not terminate even after being killed. This issue has been fixed now. QXCR1000796888 Starting from this release, SG-NFS provides NFSv4 file lock migration and uses share command for sharing the file systems.
Problem If you run AutoFS on NFS servers that participate in a HA NFS cluster (through Serviceguard), the behavior of building a local IP interface list may render Serviceguard unable to migrate an NFS package during a fail-over event. NOTE: This problem impacts only HA NFS server systems running AutoFS. You can safely use AutoFS on client systems. Cause HA NFS uses relocatable IP addresses that migrate from a primary NFS server to an adoptive node during a fail-over event.
