Serviceguard NFS Toolkit Overview HP Serviceguard Network File Server (NFS) Toolkit uses HP Serviceguard to set up highly available NFS servers. You must set up a Serviceguard cluster before you can set up Highly Available (HA) NFS. Serviceguard NFS Toolkit is a separately purchased set of configuration files and control scripts, which you can customize for your specific needs. An NFS server is a host that exports its local directories and makes them available for client hosts to mount using NFS.
Announcement Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.02 can work with Serviceguard A.11.17.01. Serviceguard A.11.17.01 is being released with HP-UX 11i v3 release. The detailed information of using Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.02 with Serviceguard A.11.17.01 is as follows: ▲ Serviceguard A.11.17.01 provides a new control script template. Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.02 supports the new variable HA_NFS_SCRIPT_EXTENSION in the control script (nfs.cntl).
Limitations The following is a list of limitations when using Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.02 with Serviceguard A.11.17.01: • Serviceguard A.11.17.01 introduces a new MULTI_NODE package type which is not supported by Serviceguard NFS Toolkit. The only supported package type is FAILOVER. • Serviceguard A.11.17.01 provides a new package configuration file template.
New Fixes in the Version A.11.31.02 Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.02 provides the following defect fixes: Table 1 New Fixes in the Version A.11.31.02 DTS Number JAGaf75195 Problem Description Intermittently, when a Highly Available NFS package is stopped, the rpc.statd process fails to restart with the following message: /usr/sbin/rpc.statd: already started The rpc.statd process does get killed but is not restarted. This causes NFS file locking problems.
Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.31.02 Software and Patch Requirements The only software requirement is to have Serviceguard installed. There are no patch requirements. Known Problems and Workarounds The following is a list of known problems and, where possible, the appropriate workarounds for Serviceguard A.11.31.02: Problem If you run AutoFS on NFS servers that participate in a Highly Available NFS cluster (through Serviceguard), the behavior of building a local IP interface list can, in certain cases, render Serviceguard unable to migrate an NFS package during a fail-over event. NOTE: This problem impacts only Highly Available NFS server systems running AutoFS.
