Known Problems and Workarounds
The following is a list of known problems and, where possible, the appropriate workarounds:
Problem
If you run AutoFS on NFS servers in a Serviceguard cluster and AutoFS creates loopback virtual
file system (LOFS) mounts to file systems exported as part of an NFS package, Serviceguard may
be unable to migrate the NFS package when a failover occurs.
NOTE: This problem only occurs on NFS servers that run AutoFS. You can safely use AutoFS
on NFS clients.
If you start AutoFS after Serviceguard on an NFS cluster node, the relocatable IP addresses
(package addresses) used for NFS server packages are included in the AutoFS list of local IP
interfaces. By default, AutoFS map entries referencing the package addresses will cause AutoFS
to create LOFS mounts to the package file systems (file systems exported for the package). During
package migration, Serviceguard NFS does not unmount LOFS file systems. Because the package
file systems are being used for LOFS mounts, Serviceguard NFS will be unable to unmount them
and migrate them to the adoptive node.
Workaround
Start the automountd daemon with the -L option so that automountd creates NFS loopback
mounts for mounts to addresses in the list of local IP interfaces. Add the -L option to the
AUTOMOUNTD_OPTIONS variable in the /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf file before automountd is
started.
Problem
On systems with the HP-UX 11i v2 September 2004 release installed and Serviceguard NFS
Toolkit version A.11.23.02 or later installed, Serviceguard NFS monitoring of the NFS File Lock
Migration script (nfs.flm) fails.
The 11.23 ps cumulative patch PHCO_31594 (included in the HP–UX 11i v2 September 2004
release) made changes to the ps utility that were not compatible with the Serviceguard NFS
mechanism used to monitor the nfs.flm script.
Workaround
To enable the File Lock Migration feature and monitor the status of the nfs.flm script, you must
either remove PHCO_31594, or install the superseding patch PHCO_32475.
