An NFS server is a host that exports its local directories and makes them available for client hosts to mount using NFS. On the NFS client, these mounted directories look to users like part of the client’s local file system.

This allows time for rpc.statd to complete its file lock migration process. The new configuration variable is STATMON_WAITTIME in the nfs.flm script.

Serviceguard NFS Toolkit A.11.11.07 and A.11.23.06 Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Known Problems and Workarounds Problem If you run AutoFS on NFS servers that participate in a Highly Available NFS cluster (through Serviceguard), the behavior of building a local IP interface list can, in certain cases, render Serviceguard unable to migrate an NFS package during a fail-over event. NOTE This problem impacts only HA/NFS server systems running AutoFS. You can safely use AutoFS on client systems.

Cause The 11.23 ps cumulative patch PHCO_31594 (included in the 11i v2 September 2004 release) broke compatibility of the ps command causing Serviceguard NFS monitoring of the File Lock Migration script to fail.
