MC/ServiceGuard NFS Toolkit Version
A.11.00.03 Release Notes
Announcements
With the AP0301 release, MC/ServiceGuard NFS will now monitor NFS TCP services, in
addition to the NFS UDP services. This feature will be available to users using HP-UX 11.0,
but not to users using 11i.
If a user chooses to install AP0301 on HP-UX 11i, HP will not provide support for
MC/ServiceGuard NFS over TCP feature. The default transport mode in 11i being "TCP", a
user must specify -o proto=udp while setting up MC/ServiceGuard mount points. This would
ensure that the end user does not end up using MC/ServiceGuard NFS over TCP on 11i.
What’s in This Version
With A.11.00.03 release of MC/ServiceGuard NFS, 3 new features have been made available
to users:
1. Monitor NFS/ TCP services:
MC ServiceGuard NFS can now monitor TCP services, when NFS over TCP is enabled
2. Specify number of retry attempts to ping three more NFS services:
Users can now specify the number of retry attempts for rpc.mountd, nfsd and rpc.pcnfsd.
This helps address a situation where the system or network is heavily loaded and the NFS
services are not able to respond quickly leading to unnecessary failovers. The default
number of retry to ping NFS services is set to 4 and it can be reset by the user.
3. Get more troubleshooting information:
Users can now getthe date information along with the error or warning message when any
of the NFS services is not responding.
