1 Serviceguard Manager Version A.05.02 Release Notes
Announcements
Serviceguard Manager is the graphical user interface for the Serviceguard product. With it, you
can monitor, administer, and configure clusters managed by Serviceguard, Serviceguard Extension
for RAC, Metrocluster, Continentalclusters, and Serviceguard Extension for Faster Failover.
NOTE: HP Serviceguard Manager has a web-based, (SIM) Systems Insight Management/System
Management Homepage (SMH) application, version B.xx.xx, that you can use to simplify the
management of Serviceguard versions A.11.17.01 and later. Refer to the Serviceguard Release
Notes (B3935-90124) for more information.
Serviceguard Manager replaces the functionality of the earlier Serviceguard management tools,
ClusterView and the SAM High Availability tool. It can be launched independently, or from the
OpenView or HP Systems Insight Manager menus.
You install Serviceguard Manager on a management station, which can be any computer running
HP-UX, Linux, or Windows. From there, you connect to a node with Serviceguard, versions
A.11.15.00 through A.11.17.01, installed. The connecting node becomes your Session Server; it
will go out on its subnets and query for information about Serviceguard objects. You can see the
discovered clusters, nodes, and packages in your session on the tree and map, with more detail
in Properties and Alerts.
An alerts icon on the toolbar warns you about new problems, whether or not you can see the
Serviceguard object in your current view. Clicking on the alerts icon shows high availability
alerts, and the Alerts window has information for analyzing the problems.
If the Session Server and target clusters are running Serviceguard version A.11.15.00 through
A.11.17.01, also do the most common administrative commands through the interface. The
supported actions are:
Run or halt a cluster, a node, or a failover or System Multi-node package
Move a failover package to a new node
Change package-switching and node-switching flags for failover packages
If the Session Server and target nodes and cluster have Serviceguard A.11.16.xx or A.11.17.xx
installed, you can also create and modify Serviceguard configuration of clusters and failover
packages.
If your HP-UX cluster nodes are configured for SNMP, you can receive their SNMP cluster trap
messages in the SNMP Browser window. You can set your management station as an SNMP
trap destination from a tab in the window. In the Serviceguard Manager display, you can sort
and re-organize the message order.
Serviceguard Manager can be installed on HP-UX, Linux, and Windows. The software for each
platform is available free from the web at www.hp.com/go/softwaredepot. Serviceguard
Manager is also one of the products delivered on the Distributed Components CD that comes
free with Serviceguard:
Product T1905BA software and license
The Serviceguard Manager interface is available in 5 languages:
English
