With it, you can view and monitor clusters managed by MC/ServiceGuard, ServiceGuard OPS Edition, MetroClusters, and Continental Clusters. You can also issue some common administrative commands. Now, ServiceGuard Manager displays information about system multi-node packages. SMN packages are special packages. They are used to regulate system resources, like volume groups, not applications. They run on several nodes at once. There is no map symbol for SMN packages.

You can see status from the colors and symbols. To do administrative commands, you do need to login as root on an HP-UX server with ServiceGuard A.11.13 (with the latest patches) and Cluster Object Manager Version A.01.03.01. (See "Required and Recommended Patches” in this document.

In this example, operators at any of the three stations can connect to the SG A.11.12 node servers. Because the servers and clusters are all on the same subnet, all three observation stations can see all three clusters. HP-UX and Linux server nodes with ServiceGuard Version A.11.12 or later can discover clusters’ configuration and status information and create maps.

System requirements ServiceGuard Manager can be installed on a computer with one of the following operating systems: • HP-UX, Version 11.0 or later.

The JavaHelp implementation sometimes hangs during initialization because of a defect in MediaTracker.

Before halting a node, ServiceGuard Manager may report a misleading number of packages to be halted. The reported number correctly includes the number of regular packages, which are visible on the map, but it also counts system multi-node packages, which are not visible on a map.

On Linux, Japanese online help shows hyphens rendered as square characters. • What is the workaround? There is none. The effect is only cosmetic, but is noted to prevent any confusion. JAGad90142 • What is the problem? The ServiceGuard Manager interface stops interacting with server. Under extreme stress, on one occasion ServiceGuard Manager did seemed to stop interacting with the back-end.

Package start/halt failure errors are not reported well. If an error occurs and a package cannot start or fail, the progress message says, “Unknown error returned”.
