OCFS2 Integration with HP Serviceguard for Linux Administrator's Guide, First Edition, November 2008

IMPORTANT: The client network which is shown as a single network (eth2) in Figure 2-1
(page 14) can also be configured with another network HBA as a channel bonded interface
for redundancy. However, HP Serviceguard for Linux must not be configured to exchange
heartbeat through this public network.
Installing OCFS2 in a Serviceguard for Linux Environment
This section elaborates on the procedures for installing OCFS2 in a Serviceguard environment.
It is assumed that HP Serviceguard for Linux is already installed on the cluster.
Complete the following procedure to install OCFS2:
1. Install the OCFS2 tools rpm package that is available on the Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise
Server (10) media.
For example:
On a 64-bit SLES10 SP1 system, run the following command to install the rpm,
ocfs2-tools-1.2.3-0.7.x86_64.rpm:
# rpm -iUvh ocfs2-tools-1.2.3-0.7.x86_64.rpm
2. Download the file, SG-OCFS2-package from http://www.software.hp.com.
Alternatively, you can search for SGLXCFS on http://www.software.hp.com to access the
SG-OCFS2-package file.
3. Install the SG-OCFS2-package that matches the version of the operating system running
on the nodes.
For example, to install the SG-OCFS2–package on SUSE 10, run the following command:
# rpm Uvh sgocfs2-A.01.00-0.sles10.noarch.rpm
Once you install the SG-OCFS2-package, you can verify the installation by running the following
command:
#rpm -qa| grep sgocfs2
In the output, the product name, sgocfs2-A.01.00-0, will be listed. The presence of this file
verifies that the installation is successful.
Pre-configuration Steps
This section elaborates on the pre-configuration steps that you must complete before using OCFS2
in your Serviceguard environment.
This section addresses the following topics:
“Planning the OCFS2 cluster timeouts” (page 15)
“Creating the OCFS2 File System” (page 19)
Planning the OCFS2 cluster timeouts
In an environment where the cluster managers of HP Serviceguard for Linux and OCFS2 co-exist
on the same node, it is important to ensure that OCFS2 does not interfere with the recovery
functions of the Serviceguard cluster manager. To ensure that this interference does not occur,
the parameters of the OCFS2 cluster manager must be configured to react slower than the
Serviceguard cluster manager.
Following are the parameters of the OCFS2 cluster manager, O2CB, that need to be configured:
1. O2NET_IDLE_TIMEOUT
2. O2CB_HEARTBEAT_THRESHOLD
