HP Serviceguard for Linux Version A.11.18 Release Notes, 2nd Edition, March 2009
Installing HP Serviceguard for Linux
IMPORTANT: Before you begin installing Serviceguard, make sure that all components
of the cluster have been upgraded to their latest firmware versions.
NOTE: Serviceguard for Linux depends on the xinetd service. Make sure that the
xinetd rpm has been installed from the distribution media and is enabled.
To find out if xinetd is running, use a command such as:
ps -ef | grep xinetd
You should see output similar to the following:
root 3954 1 0 Jan17 ? 00:00:05 /usr/sbin/xinetdroot 15734 15513 0 13:38 pts/1
00:00:00 grep xinetd
If xinetd is not running, check that it is installed as follows:
rpm -q xinetd
You can use the chkconfig command to enable xinetd if you need to.
After Linux is correctly configured, install HP Serviceguard using rpm commands.
Install Serviceguard, and then the Quorum Server and Serviceguard Manager if you
choose to do so. Proceed as follows.
NOTE: HP recommends that after installing Linux, you enable ssh, and use it for
remote login (instead of rlogin, remsh, or telnet), and the related command scpfor
remote copy. ssh and scp encrypt passwords before transmitting them,
whereasrlogin, rcp, etc., do not.
