Improved installation and upgrade through cmeasyinstall and cmupgrade commands
Serviceguard for Linux A.12.00.00 offers improved installation and upgrade methods through the
following commands:
• cmeasyinstall—This command helps you to do a fresh installation of HP Serviceguard
and its components such as Serviceguard Extended Distance Cluster, Serviceguard Manager,
Oracle toolkit, Enterprise DB toolkit, SAP sybase toolkit and Metroclusters except for SGeSAP
from HP Serviceguard for Linux Base, HP Serviceguard for Linux Advanced and HP Serviceguard
for Linux Enterprise A.12.00.00 DVD or ISO image.
• cmupgrade—This command helps you in upgrading HP Serviceguard and its components
such as Serviceguard Manager, Toolkits, Extended Distance Cluster and Metrocluster except
for SGeSAP.

Using Serviceguard with virtual machines
Serviceguard for Linux supports using VMWare and KVM guests as cluster nodes. In this
configuration, the virtual machine is a member of a Serviceguard cluster, allowing failover of
application packages between other physical or VM nodes in the cluster. VMware vMotion feature
is supported in this release. For more information about VMware features and configurations see

Deprecated or obsolete features
Deprecated or obsolete features in Serviceguard
The following features are deprecated or obsolete from Serviceguard in this version:
• The sg/persistent_res module and the persistent_res.sh control script are obsolete.
Instead, you must use the sg/pr_cntl module and pr_cntl.sh control script. The
capabilities provided by the new module and control script is also applicable for legacy
packages.
If you have configured the packages with sg/persistent_res module in the modular
packages or if you are using sglx_vm parameter in the legacy package, remove the module
and include the sg/pr_cntl module. The sglx_vm parameter is obsolete.
