Metrocluster with EMC SRDF Version B.01.00.00 Release Notes

Support for failover polices site_preferred and site_preferred_manual
Metrocluster for Linux supports Serviceguard site_preferred and site_preferred_manual failover
policies. These policies are supported for failover packages configured in a Metrocluster with sites
defined in the Serviceguard cluster configuration file. For more information on these failover polices
site_preferred and site_preferred _manual, see Metrocluster SRDF for Linux B.01.00.00 guide
available at http://www.hp.com/go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
NOTE: You must install the Metrocluster Add-ons for Linux RPM and Serviceguard for Linux
A.11.20.10 to use the site aware failover policies.
Support for persistent reservations
Metrocluster for Linux supports configuring persistent reservations (PR) in Metrocluster packages to
control access to LUNs. For more information on persistent reservation, see Managing HP
Serviceguard A.11.20.10 for Linux available at http://www.hp.com/go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
NOTE: Starting from Serviceguard for Linux version A.11.20.10, the support for site_preferred
and site_preferred_manual failover policies and persistent reservations is available.
Support for Device Mapper
Metrocluster for Linux supports configuring Device Mapper for disks used in Metrocluster packages.
All the Serviceguard related restrictions and guidelines for supporting DM-Multipath are also
applicable to Metrocluster configurations.
NOTE: Starting Serviceuard for Linux A.11.20.20, you can use Persistent Reservations with
Metrocluster for Linux when Device Mapper (DM) is enabled.
For more information on the restrictions, see HP Serviceguard for Linux Certification Matrix available
at http://www.hp.com/go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
Features not supported in B.01.00.00 version
HP Serviceguard Manager (UI) for Linux does not support configuration, monitoring, and
administration of Metrocluster modular packages.
Compatibility information and installation requirements
Metrocluster/SRDF has to be installed on all nodes that:
run a package in the Serviceguard cluster
whose data are on an EMC Symmetrix (ICDA) Integrated Cached Disk Array
data are replicated to a second EMC Symmetrix ICDA using the Symmetrix Remote Data
Facility (SRDF)
Installation and configuration of Metrocluster/SRDF must be done on all the cluster nodes as is
done for any other Serviceguard package.
The following hardware and software must be installed and configured on each HP Proliant servers
in order to use HP Metrocluster SRDF. This helps to execute the application package that has been
configured for Metrocluster/SRDF.
NOTE: For more information on support, compatibility, and features for Metrocluster/SRDF, see
the Serviceguard Disaster Recovery Products Compatibility and Feature Matrix (Metrocluster with
EMC SRDF) available at http://www.hp.com/go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
