3.2.3 Installing serviceguard-xdc Software
First time installation
If you are installing the serviceguard-xdc software for the first time:
1. Check the Serviceguard version installed on your system by running the command:
#rpm -q serviceguard
2. If the Serviceguard version is A.11.19.xx, upgrade the Serviceguard version to A.11.20.20
and serviceguard-xdc version to A.11.20.20. For information about upgrading to Serviceguard
A.11.20.20 and serviceguard-xdc A.11.20.20, see Upgrading to HP Serviceguard
A.11.20.20 and serviceguard-xdc A.11.20.20.
3. Run the sgupdate script on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and follow the instructions provided in
the install file to install the serviceguard-xdc rpm.
4. Run the cmeasyinstall script on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. For more information about
installation instructions, see HP Serviceguard for Linux Version A.11.20 Deployment Guide

5. If you want to upgrade to the latest serviceguard-xdc version:
a. Download the patches depending on the platform from the HP Support Centre at http://
www.hp.com/go/hpsc. For more information about the latest Serviceguard patches, see
HP Serviceguard for Linux Version A.11.20 Deployment Guide at http://www.hp.com/
go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
b. Use the appropriate tool to extract the patch file.
c. Run the sgupdate script and follow the instructions provided in the install file to
install the serviceguard-xdc rpm.
Upgrading to HP Serviceguard A.11.20.20 and serviceguard-xdc A.11.20.20
To upgrade HP Serviceguard to A.11.20.20 and serviceguard-xdc to A.11.20.20 versions,
complete the following procedure on every node in the cluster. However, only after you complete
the procedure on one node, you can proceed to the other node. You cannot perform this procedure
on all nodes simultaneously.
1. Determine which node you want to start the upgrade procedure. You also need to determine
if the node is either Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.
2. Run the following command to halt the node:
# cmhaltnode
On Red Hat Enterpriser Linux 5:
If Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 is already installed on your system, complete the following steps to
upgrade to HP Serviceguard A.11.20.20 and serviceguard-xdc to A.11.20.20:
1. Upgrade the Serviceguard version to A.11.20.00. For more information on upgrading to
Serviceguard A.11.20.00, see HP Serviceguard A.11.20.10 for Linux Release Notes.
2. Upgrade the Serviceguard version to A.11.20.20 and serviceguard-xdc version to A.11.20.20.

On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11:
If SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 is already installed on your system, complete the following steps
to upgrade to HP Serviceguard A.11.20.20 and serviceguard-xdc to A.11.20.20:
