Serviceguard Extension for SAP Version B.05.00 Release Notes (April 2010)
Additional Software Requirements
SGeSAP B.05.00 is supported in combination with HP Serviceguard A.11.18 and HP Serviceguard A.11.19,
any of which can be purchased separately or as part of an operating environment bundle.
The SGeSAP B.05.00 product requires the use of either Serviceguard NFS Toolkit (B5140BA) or the HP
Serviceguard Cluster File System (T2775xx, T2776xx, or T2777xx), any of which can be purchased
separately. For the latest licensing information on these products or any operating environment bundle that
may contain these products, please contact with your HP sales representative.
A combination of CFS and HA NFS is possible. CFS simplifies the filesystem layout within the cluster, NFS
provides access to shared filesystems to SAP instances running on servers outside of the cluster.
SGeSAP supports storage layouts of LVM or VxVM volume managers.
Optionally, SGeSAP is supported in combination with SGeRAC, as well as with Metrocluster and
Continentalcluster.
Hot standby liveCache installations require a combination of LVM volumes and CVM volumes. They have
further software requirements. Hot standby liveCache requires the HP Serviceguard Cluster Filesystem product
to be installed as a mandatory product. Furthermore the cost-free software HP Storageworks RAIDManager
XP Version 1.19.04 (T1610) needs to be downloaded and installed. It can be found on
http://software.hp.com.
Compatibility Issues
To achieve a supported SGeSAP integration, perform all installation steps described in the most recent version
of the Managing Serviceguard Extension for SAP manual, part number T2803-900013. Installation steps
might differ slightly from what is described there if a software component is involved that became supported
after the print date of the manual. In these cases, additional or changed installation instructions can be found
in this document.
Starting with Serviceguard A.11.18, a new implementation approach to packages was introduced, called
modular packages. Packages that were created with previous versions of SGeSAP are referred to as legacy
packages. SGeSAP B.05.00 supports Serviceguard modular packages and Serviceguard legacy packages.
Both approaches can be used simultaneously within a single cluster. It is recommended to create new
packages as modular packages. Legacy package support is planned to be discontinued in a future version
of SGeSAP. In order to enable the creation of additional legacy packages using SGeSAP B.05.00 it is
required to install a patch (see patch section below).
NOTE:
Always use the latest SAP kernel patch that is available from SAP.•
• Modular packages are not available for SAP Master Data Management 5.5 cluster.
Serviceguard Extension for SAP Compatibility with SAP Kernel Releases
SGeSAP can be a combined with a not explicitly mentioned SAP component, if the underlying SAP kernel
release is supported by SGeSAP.
The support will cover failover capabilities for the database and SAP ABAP-engines and JAVA-engines.
SGeSAP can be used without the integrated database clustering capabilities.
SGeSAP packages can co-exist with other Serviceguard packages. SGeSAP functionality remains supported
in these configurations.
