Serviceguard Extension for SAP Versions B.04.02 and B.04.51 Release Notes
Patches and Fixes in this Version
Chapter 1 23
JAGaf96292 (SR 8606438188): Application Server package not stopped/restarted during
dbci shutdown/failover
• What is the problem? SGeSAP consolidation behavior gets ignored for Application Servers
if the handling package fails over to the node on which the handled package already runs.
For this to happen, the Application Servers need to be defined in the ASTREAT[] array to
be part of a Serviceguard package themselves.
• Resolution: The interpretation of ASTREAT[] values for packaged instances got
harmonized with the behavior for non-packaged instances to achieve consistent
consolidation behavior.
JAGaf96295 (SR 8606438191): Problems with C-shell during start/stop of Application
Server on Linux
• What is the problem? SGeSAP on HP-UX remotely starts a shell session on external Linux
Application Servers. The Linux Application Server fails if the shell binary is not available.
• Resolution: SGeSAP now uses the bash shell as default on Linux. Bash gets delivered as
part of all SAP certified Linux distributions.
JAGaf96298 (SR 8606438194): Restart of SAP application server doesn't work properly
• What is the problem? SAP Application Servers freeze during database failover time. RFC
probes sent from any starting SGeSAP package time out under these conditions.
Non-critical Application Servers are considered to be down due to the time out and get
erroneously skipped during subsequent package operations.
• Resolution: An additional test got added that determines whether Application Server
processes of non-responding instances are still executed on the operating system level.
