Serviceguard Extension for SAP Versions B.04.02 and B.04.51 Release Notes
Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements
Chapter 1 11
SAP Software License Requirements
A valid SAP license for each node on which the message server will be running has to be
acquired from SAP. Additional licenses for high availability usage are free of charge for
standby nodes.
You will have to use the SAP license program provided by SAP to acquire a unique customer
key on every host of the cluster. To get a SAP license:
Gather customer keys by running saplicense -get as <sid>adm on each machine where
you want the SAP message server to reside.
1. Fax the keys, the name of the SAP system, the installation date, and your phone and fax
number to SAP License Administration using the form provided with the standard SAP
installation kit.
To speed up the process, add a note that indicates you need the additional licenses for a
failover solution using Serviceguard.
2. Receive your License Key from SAP and install it in the system using saplicense
-install on each appropriate hosts.
Additional Software Requirements
SGeSAP B.04.02 is supported in combination with HP Serviceguard A.11.16 and requires the
use of HP's High Available Network File System (NFS) product B5140BA, any of which can be
purchased separately.
SGeSAP B.04.51 is supported in combination with HP Serviceguard A.11.17 and HP
Serviceguard A.11.18, any of which can be purchased separately or as part of an operating
environment bundle.
Starting with Serviceguard A.11.18, a new implementation approach to packages was
introduced, called modular packages. Existing packages are now referred to as legacy
packages, which you can still create and use with Serviceguard A.11.18. However, this version
of SGeSAP does not support modular packages, only legacy packages are supported.
Full SGeSAP functionality is supported as part of legacy packages with Serviceguard 11.18.
The SGeSAP B.04.51 product requires the use of either Serviceguard NFS Toolkit (B5140BA)
or the HP Serviceguard Cluster File System (T2775xx, T2776xx, or T2777xx), any of which
can be purchased separately. For the latest licensing information on these products or any
operating environment bundle that may contain these products, please contact with your HP
sales representative.
