Serviceguard Extension for SAP Release Notes Version B.05.10, December 2012
• Standard package configurations can be quickly applied after selecting the SAP software
instances. For more complex configurations, all settings can be reviewed on a summary screen
and adapted to individual needs editing parameters in HP Serviceguard Manager screens.
• The SGeSAP specific “follow-and-push” relationship between SAP Central Service packages
and their Enqueue Replication Service packages is now visualized under the dependency tab
of HP Serviceguard Manager.
For more information on follow-and-push feature see, Managing Serviceguard Extension for

Serviceguard Extension for SAP
Improved SAP central service software operation monitoring
• A new service monitor, sapenq.mon, is available for addition to any modular package that
includes SAP Central Instances or SAP System Central Service Instances. The monitor will
regularly check and ensure the availability and responsiveness of SAP Enqueue Services for
SAP ABAP or JAVA use.
• A new service monitor, sapenqr.mon, is available for addition to any modular package
that includes SAP Enqueue Replication Instances. The monitor will regularly check and ensure
the availability and responsiveness of SAP Enqueue Replication Services.
The service monitor locally restarts the replication instance in case the software fails. A related
failover is only triggered, if the instance fails to remain up for more than ten minutes three
times in a row. Momentary instability of the software is reported as alert message in
Serviceguard Manager.
• The SGeSAP Enqueue Operation Resource now expands its monitoring to the short
synchronization phase between Enqueue and Enqueue Replication after failover of Enqueue.
Undiscovered issues in this phase could lead to a failure of the SAP routines that handle the
transition between Enqueue and Enqueue Replication. In case a malfunction gets detected,
corrective actions are taken to restore proper operation of both components.
Oracle database software operation monitoring
The available service monitor sapdatab.mon can be added to any modular package that includes
SAP Oracle single-instance database instances. The monitor regularly checks and ensures the
availability and responsiveness of the database. It also detects issues with the Oracle listener
processes and performs a local restart of the component, if required.
MaxDB database service software operation monitoring
The service monitor sapdatab.mon is available for addition to any modular package that includes
SAP MaxDB database instances. The monitor will regularly check and ensure the availability and
responsiveness of SAP MaxDB kernels as well as the accompanying SAP servers.
Cluster module for SAP MDM 7 instance packages
A new module sgesap/mdm is available that allows to cluster any server component of SAP Master
Data Management 7, that is; the MDS, MDIS, and MDSS servers. They can be handled as a single
package or split up into four individual packages. The sgesap/database module was enhanced
to be applicable to MDM database handling.
SGeSAP/dbinstance supports SAP Sybase ASE
The db_vendor modular-style package attribute allows sybase as valid attribute value. The
sapdatab.mon monitoring is enabled to monitor single-instance Sybase ASE databases that were
installed to provide database services for SAP Netweaver.
