Serviceguard Extension for SAP Release Notes Version B.05.10, December 2012

Additional Software Requirements
SGeSAP B.05.10 requires the installation of HP Serviceguard A.11.20 which can be purchased
separately or as part of an operating environment bundle.
SGeSAP supports storage layouts of LVM or VxVM volume managers.
Hot standby liveCache installations require a combination of LVM volumes and VxVM volumes.
They have further software requirements: Hot standby liveCache requires the HP Serviceguard
Cluster Filesystem product to be installed as a mandatory product. Furthermore, the cost-free software
HP Storageworks RAIDManager XP (T1610), needs to be downloaded and installed. It can be
found at http://software.hp.com.
The SGeSAP B.05.10 product requires the use of either the HA NFS Toolkit (B5140BA) or the HP
Serviceguard Cluster File System (from Serviceguard Storage Management Suite) these can be
purchased separately or as part of operating environment bundles. For the latest licensing
information and availability of these products or any operating environment bundle that may
contain these products, please contact your HP sales representative.
HP SGeSAP is supported in a HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite cluster. This includes
SAP instance installations on CFS filesystem. CFS simplifies the filesystem layout within the cluster
and NFS provides access to shared filesystems to SAP instances running on servers outside of the
cluster.
The combination of SGeSAP and Serviceguard Storage Management Suite with CFS for Oracle
RAC is certified by SAP to implement multi-node Oracle RAC 10gR2 and 11gR2 installations for
SAP scenarios.
SGeSAP is supported with HP Integrity Virtual Machines B.04.10, B.04.20, and B.04.30 as
Serviceguard nodes. If a Serviceguard cluster node runs a virtual machine as a Serviceguard
package, it must not run any other user applications. SGeSAP is not supported within HP Integrity
Virtual Machines that are configured as Serviceguard packages themselves. For general support
information about SAP and HP Virtual Machines, see SAP note 901732.
Compatibility Issues
To achieve a supported SGeSAP integration, perform all configuration steps described in the most
recent version of the Managing Serviceguard Extension for SAP document. Installation steps might
differ slightly from what is described there if a software component is involved that became
supported after the print date of the manual. In these cases, additional or changed installation
instructions can be found in this document.
Optionally, SGeSAP is supported in combination with SGeRAC, Metrocluster, and
Continentalclusters. SGeSAP packages can also coexist with other Serviceguard packages. SGeSAP
functionality remains supported in these configurations. Correct interaction of software services
that are covered by SGeSAP packages with software services that are covered by other Serviceguard
packages can not be guaranteed.
It is possible to use the SGeSAP dispatcher monitor to distinguish different SAP work process types.
This information can be fed into the HP VSE Global Workload Manager (gWLM) to provide CPU
workload balancing with sub-instance granularity.
SGeSAP is supported in IPv6 networks in combination with SAP application and database
components and versions that are enabled for IPv6. This document does not give any indication
for the capability of application and database components themselves. Please verify the third-party
vendor support information for the availability of each component in IPv6 environments separately.
Serviceguard Extension for SAP Compatibility with SAP Releases
The SGeSAP support matrix is based on SAP ABAP kernel release and SAP J2EE versions. The
support will cover failover capabilities for the single-instance databases for SAP and the
ABAP-engines and JAVA-engines in single-stack, double-stack, and split-stack configurations.
SGeSAP can also be used without the integrated database clustering capabilities.
