1 Serviceguard Extension for SAP Version B.05.10 Release Notes Announcements HP Serviceguard Extension for SAP (SGeSAP) on HP-UX, extends HP Serviceguard's failover cluster capabilities to SAP application environments. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the HP Serviceguard product. SGeSAP provides a single, uniform interface to cluster ABAP-only, JAVA-only, double-stack and split-stack installations of SAP Netweaver based SAP applications.

The native SAP software configuration settings of the instances that belong to the selected SAP System ID get discovered from the cluster nodes and serve as input for Serviceguard package parameter settings that populate package configuration files. There are two options: the SGeSAP Multiple packages easy deployment scenario and the SGeSAP Combined Packages easy deployment scenario.
• Standard package configurations can be quickly applied after selecting the SAP software instances. For more complex configurations, all settings can be reviewed on a summary screen and adapted to individual needs editing parameters in HP Serviceguard Manager screens. • The SGeSAP specific “follow-and-push” relationship between SAP Central Service packages and their Enqueue Replication Service packages is now visualized under the dependency tab of HP Serviceguard Manager.
The HP Serviceguard Manager configuration screen for SGeSAP database packages now includes a radio button which enables you to select Sybase as database technology. Easy deployment of the SGeSAP package is also enabled for Sybase ASE. SGeSAP/dbinstance supports IBM DB2 UDB The db_vendor modular-style package attribute allows db2 as valid attribute value. The sapdatab.mon monitoring is enabled to monitor DB2 databases.
Additional enhancements • All SGeSAP service monitors now support the Serviceguard package maintenance mode for modular packages. While a package runs in maintenance mode, it is possible to manually start, stop, and manipulate the SAP software components in the package without risking any service monitor to fail. Monitoring will continue to operate automatically as soon as the package leaves maintenance mode.
Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements This section describes the hardware and software that is required and/or supported with Serviceguard Extension for SAP. Hardware Requirements All hardware and configuration requirements for HP Serviceguard apply in addition to any SGeSAP specific requirement. A combination of HP 9000 and Integrity nodes for a SAP instance cluster is possible.
Additional Software Requirements SGeSAP B.05.10 requires the installation of HP Serviceguard A.11.20 which can be purchased separately or as part of an operating environment bundle. SGeSAP supports storage layouts of LVM or VxVM volume managers. Hot standby liveCache installations require a combination of LVM volumes and VxVM volumes. They have further software requirements: Hot standby liveCache requires the HP Serviceguard Cluster Filesystem product to be installed as a mandatory product.

It is recommended to create new packages as modular packages and plan to migrate existing legacy packages. Legacy package support is planned to be discontinued in a future version of SGeSAP. NOTE: Modular packages are available for SAP Master Data Management version 7.10 (not available for version 5.5). Port Requirements For ports that are generally required by HP Serviceguard, please refer to “Port Requirements” section of the Serviceguard A.11.20 Release Notes.
Patches, Fixes, Known Problems, and Workarounds For a current list of patches, known problems, and workarounds, contact your HP support representative or go to the appropriate Hewlett-Packard Support Centre website: http:// www.hp.com/go/hpsc. Known Limitations The SAP dbmcli hss_removestandby command is only supported with liveCache 7.7.04.37 and above.
