Managing Serviceguard Extension for SAP Version B.05.10, September 2010

Modular Package Configuration
Modular SGeSAP packages can be created using the graphical interface of the Serviceguard
Manager plug-in to HP System Management Homepage or the standard Serviceguard command
line interface.
Graphical interface for modular package creation
The new graphical Serviceguard Manager wizard for SGeSAP now greatly simplifies cluster
package creation by providing auto-discovery of installed SAP components in the cluster. The
wizard takes you through the package configuration process, step-by-step, filling in Serviceguard
and SGeSAP parameters automatically whenever possible. To easily configure an SGeSAP
package, simply click through each page of the wizard. SGeSAP package parameters are
prepopulated as well as several standard Serviceguard package parameters.
Virtual IP addresses that were specified during SAP installation become preconfigured as
relocatable IP addresses of a related package. Mount points, filesystems, logical volumes, volume
groups and disk groups on which the instances got installed get preconfigured for the package.
SGeSAP service monitors for the clustered SAP software components are suggested as well as
package resources that apply to them.
Standard SAP packages can thus be created by simply selecting the instances that are to be
clustered. Since any parameter can be changed before the configuration is applied, full flexibility
and access to all functionality is available via the graphical interface.
GI010 Initiate the creation of a new SGeSAP package
To start the Serviceguard Manager GUI, go to the hostname of a cluster node:
http://hostname:2301. From the Serviceguard Manager Main page, click on Configuration
in the menu toolbar. From the drop down menu, select Create a Modular Package.
1. A Create a Modular Package screen for selecting toolkits appears. Next to Do you want to
use a toolkit?, select yes,
2. Select the SGeSAP toolkit. The HA NFS toolkit can be selected in addition, if the HA NFS
toolkit is installed. With this additional selection, NFS filesystems access can be provided
as part of the SAP package. The NFS toolkit configuration screens will later be interspersed
into the SGeSAP package creation dialog.
3. In the Select the SAP Components in the Package table, select the SAP components you
want to make highly available in the package. You can select multiple components. The
additional selection of External SAP instances allows to influence startup and shutdown
of instances that run outside of cluster packages or even outside of the cluster nodes. Then
click Next>>.
