Serviceguard Extension for RAC Version A.11.20 Release Notes, April 2013
• Other Rolling upgrade restrictions:
You can upgrade OS during rolling upgrade only if your cluster uses SLVM and ASM
over Raw disks, or ASM over SLVM configuration for the shared storage.
◦
◦ Refer to Oracle documentation if the rolling upgrade involves an Oracle RAC version
upgrade.
◦ For more information, see the HP-UX 11i v3 version of the HP Serviceguard Storage
Management Suite Release Notes at www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs
—> HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite —> Getting started.
• Online package reconfiguration restriction:
SGeRAC does not support online configuration changes to any SGeRAC Toolkit parameters
in an SGeRAC Toolkit package. It does support online changes to Serviceguard parameters
in all cases that Serviceguard itself supports.
See also “Support for the SGeRAC Toolkit ” (page 15).
Operating-System Dependencies
The A.11.20 version of SGeRAC is supported on HP-UX 11i v3.
NOTE:
• Oracle 11g R2 is supported only on HP-UX 11i v3.
• All nodes in a given cluster must be running the same version of HP-UX. During rolling upgrade
the nodes can run on mixed version of HP-UX. Rolling upgrades are not intended as a means
of using mixed release of HP-UX with in the same cluster. HP recommends to upgrade all the
cluster nodes to the new release level at the earliest. See “Mixed Hardware Architecture Cluster
not Supported” (page 8).
SGeRAC can be installed on top of the 11i v3 High Availability Operating Environment (HAOE)
or Data Center Operating Environment (DCOE). It is not necessary to uninstall Serviceguard file
sets before installing SGeRAC.
NOTE: If the version of Serviceguard in the HAOE or DCOE is not A.11.20, you must first upgrade
to Serviceguard version A.11.20. For Serviceguard upgrade requirements, see the latest version
of the Serviceguard Version A.11.20 Release Notes; for procedures, see the latest version of
Managing Serviceguard.
For information about capabilities available only on HP-UX 11i v3, see “Announcements for HP-UX
11i v3” (page 8).
Hardware Dependencies
Oracle 11gR2 is supported on HP Integrity and HP 9000 servers running HP-UX 11i v3.
Serviceguard Features not yet Supported
Beginning with Serviceguard A.11.20 Patch PHSS_42137, Live Application Detach (LAD) will be
supported in SGeRAC A.11.20 environment if Oracle CRS are not running. Using the -d option
with cmhaltcl (or cmhaltnode) command on a node in an SGeRAC cluster where CRS are
running will return an error message and the cmhaltcl (or cmhaltnode) command is aborted.
You can use LAD to patch/upgrade an SGeRAC node if CRS is not running on that node.
Effective September 2011, SGeRAC A.11.20 will be available bundled with HP-UX 11iv3 High
Availability Operating Environment (HA-OE) and Data Center Operating Environment (DC-OE)
September 2011 Update as an optional bundle media.
