Serviceguard Extension for RAC Version A.11.20 Release Notes, April 2013

Support for Multi-Node Online Configuration (MORE)—LVM Version 2.1 Volume
Groups Only
Multi Node Online Reconfiguration (MORE), introduced in the HP-UX 11i v3 September 2009
release, allows you to change the configuration of LVM Version 2.1 volume groups while the
volume groups are activated in shared mode on any number of cluster nodes. Applications can
continue to use these volume groups without interruption while the volume groups are being
reconfigured.
For more information, see the white paper SLVM Online Volume Reconfiguration at www.hp.com/
go/hpux-core-docs > HP-UX 11i v3 > white papers.
NOTE: MORE is available only for LVM Version 2.1 volume groups. For earlier versions, you
can still use the Single-Node Online Reconfiguration (SNOR) method. This method works on all
LVM versions and requires the deactivation of the volume group on all but one node in a cluster.
For more information, see the white paper SLVM Online Volume Reconfiguration at www.hp.com/
go/hpux-core-docs > HP-UX 11i v3 > white papers.
Support for Cluster Interconnect Subnet Monitoring
Cluster Interconnect Subnet Monitoring can be used to monitor SGeRAC cluster communication
subnets that are configured into Serviceguard multi-node packages. You configure it by means of
the Serviceguard package configuration parameter CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET. Note
the following restrictions:
Cluster Interconnect subnet monitoring can support up to 4 nodes.
Only one CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET can be specified per multi-node package.
The CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET parameter works similarly to the SUBNET parameter
that is still supported for legacy packages. See Chapter 6 of the latest version of Managing
Serviceguard at www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs > HP Serviceguard >
User guide for a discussion of legacy versus modular packages.
NOTE: CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET is available for both modular and legacy packages.
The major difference is that the failure of a subnet being monitored via SUBNET halts the instance
of the package on the node where the subnet has failed. If a subnet fails when it is being monitored
via CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET, SGeRAC ensures that at least one instance of the package
remains running in the cluster.
NOTE: SGeRAC supports both IPv4 and IPv6 for an CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET. If
you are using IPv6 in your SGeRAC cluster configuration, then the version of Oracle RAC that you
are using must also support IPv6.
Support for Veritas CFS and CVM Versions 5.0.1 and 5.1 SP1
SGeRAC A.11.20 on HP-UX 11i v3 support Veritas VxVM, CVM, and CFS 5.0.1 and 5.1 SP1
from Symantec.

Suite Release Notes at www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs > HP Serviceguard
