Serviceguard Extension for RAC Version A.11.19 Release Notes, October 2009 (T1907-90051)
Support for the SGeRAC Toolkit
The SGeRAC Toolkit provides documentation and scripts to simplify the integration
of SGeRAC and the Oracle 10gR2/11gR1 RAC stack. It also manages the dependency
between Oracle Clusterware and Oracle RAC instances with a full range of storage
management options (CFS, SLVM, CVM, ASM over SLVM).
You can download the SGeRAC Toolkit free from http://software.hp.com —>
High availability. For more information, see:
• Use of Serviceguard Extension for RAC Toolkit with Oracle 10g Release 2 or later RAC
at http://docs.hp.com -> High Availability -> Serviceguard
Extension for Real Application Clusters -> White Papers.
• The README file that accompanies the SGeRAC Toolkit, which will be on your
system after the installation as /opt/cmcluster/SGeRAC/toolkit/README.
See also “Dependencies and Limitations” (page 8).
Support for Package Maintenance Mode
This feature allows you to perform Oracle OC/RAC maintenance while OC/RAC
multi-node packages are running in the cluster. It is implemented in the SGeRAC
Toolkit by means of the MAINTENANCE_FLAG parameter. See the white paper Use
of Serviceguard Extension for RAC Toolkit with Oracle 10g Release 2 or later RAC, at the
address given above, and the SGeRAC Toolkit README.
NOTE: This feature is distinct from Serviceguard's package maintenance mode,
described in the latest version of the Serviceguard Version A.11.19 Release Notes, which
you can find at the address given under “Documentation for This Version ” (page 19).
GMS authorization
GMS prevents unauthorized users from accessing cluster information and registering
or de-registering group memberships. GMS is disabled by default; use the GMS_USER[]
parameter in /etc/opt/nmapi/nmutils.conf to configure it.
Support for 8192 Oracle Server Processes for Oracle 9iR2, 10gR2 and 11gR1 RAC
The maximum number of Oracle server processes cmgmsd can handle is 8192. When
there are more than 8192 server processes connected to cmgmsd, it will start to reject
new requests. Oracle foreground server processes are needed to handle the requests
of the Database (DB) client connected to the DB instance.
