Serviceguard Extension for RAC Version A.11.19 Release Notes, October 2009 (T1907-90051)
NOTE: You are not required to move to LVM 2.0 volume groups and everything will
work as before if you do nothing.
If you do use LVM 2.0 volume groups, you can still manage them with the same
commands as before, although you may have to make minor changes to any scripts
you use that parse the output of lvdisplay, vgdisplay, pvdisplay or vgscan, as
the output of these commands has changed slightly. In addition, new options are
available for some commands.
For more information, see the white paper LVM 2.0 Volume Groups in HP-UX 11i v3 at
docs.hp.com -> 11i v3 -> LVM Volume Manager. For information about all
other aspects of LVM on HP-UX 11i v3, see the Logical Volume Management volume
(volume 3) of the HP-UX System Administrator’s Guide, at the same address.
Support for Cluster Interconnect Subnet Monitoring
Cluster Interconnect Subnet Monitoring can be used to monitor SGeRAC cluster
communication subnets that are configured into Serviceguard multi-node packages.
You configure it by means of the Serviceguard package configuration parameter
CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET. Note the following restrictions:
• Cluster Interconnect subnet monitoring can support up to 4 nodes.
• Only one CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET can be specified per multi-node
package.
The CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET parameter works similarly to the SUBNET
parameter, which is still supported for legacy packages; see Chapter 6 of the latest
version of Managing Serviceguard at http://docs.hp.com -> High Availability
-> Serviceguard for a discussion of legacy versus modular packages.
NOTE: CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET is available for both modular and
legacy packages.
The major difference is that the failure of a subnet being monitored via SUBNET halts
the instance of the package on the node where the subnet has failed. If a subnet fails
when it is being monitored via CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET, SGeRAC simply
ensures that at least one instance of the package remains running in the cluster.
NOTE: SGeRAC supports both IPv4 and IPv6 for an
CLUSTER_INTERCONNECT_SUBNET, but you need to make sure that your version
of Oracle RAC also supports IPv6 for this type of subnet.
Support for Veritas CFS and CVM Versions 5.0 and 5.0.1
SGeRAC A.11.18 and A.11.19 on HP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v3 support Veritas VxVM, CVM
and CFS 5.0 from Symantec.
