Serviceguard Extension for RAC Version A.11.18 Release NotesCompatibility Information and Installation RequirementsChapter 122Compatibility Information and InstallationRequirementsRead this entire document and any other Release Notes or READMEsyou may have before you begin an installation.Types of Releases and PatchesVersions of Serviceguard Extension for RAC are provided as platformreleases, feature releases, or patches.Platform ReleaseA platform release is a stable version of the product, which is thepreferred environment for the majority of customers. Platform releasesmay also contain new features. These releases are supported for anextended period of time, determined by HP. Patches will be madeavailable within the extended support time frame even though a newerversion of the product is available.Feature ReleaseA feature release contains new product features. Feature releases are forcustomers who desire to use the latest features of the product. Ingeneral, feature releases will be supported until a newer version becomesavailable. In order to receive fixes for any defects found in a featurerelease after a newer version is released, the customer will need toupgrade to the newer, supported version.PatchA patch to a release is issued in response to a critical business problemfound by a customer. With a patch, the following is guaranteed:• Patch-specific release testing is performed prior to posting the patch.• Existing functionality, scripts, etc...., will continue to operatewithout modification.• All fixes from the previous patch are incorporated.For a patch, certification testing is recommended only for those fixes thatare important to the customer.
