Using HP Serviceguard extension for Oracle E-Business Suite B.01.00, September 2010
2. The Apps Tier start and stop takes 1 to 2 minutes. It is expected
behavior.
3. When you bring down EBS, always make sure that the APPS Tier is
brought
down first.
4. If you bring down the DB Tier, when the APPS Tier is up and
running,
it will bring down APPS Tier first.
5. SGeEBS uses Oracle supplied scripts to start/stop and monitor the
APPS
Tier servers. If these scripts are not present in the corresponding
directories, SGeEBS cannot work properly.
7. Look for error messages in the Package log file. If it is an APPS
package shutdown failure , look for the following message:
EBS Application Serviceguard Script: Stop Failure
Currently executing Processes for user xxxxxx
L. EBS Licensing requirements
For Oracle E-Business Suite, only the processor(s) on which the target
database is running must be counted for the purpose of determining the
number of licenses required. Oracle's data recovery licensing policy
(http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/data-recovery-licensing.pdf)
mentions that the databse can run on a Server temporarily for a period
shorter than 10 days in a year. This essentially means that if the DB
Tier fails over, it has to be failed back to the licensed server node
within a short period of time.
