Metrocluster with Continuous Access EVA Version A.05.01 Release Notes, April 2011 (5900-1486)
Following are the restrictions that apply to configuring Oracle RAC database using ASM
in Metrocluster for RAC:
• The ASM disk group must be configured with a multi-node package using SGeRAC
toolkit. This ASM disk group MNP package must be configured to have a package
dependency on the CRS MNP package to be up on the same node.
• The RAC database MNP package must be configured to have a package dependency
on the ASM disk group MNP package CRS MNP package to be up on the same
node.
For more information on configuring Oracle RAC database using ASM in Metrocluster
for RAC, see Chapter 7 in the Designing Disaster Recovery HA Clusters Using Metrocluster
and Continentalclusters, September 2010 document available at http://www.hp.com/
go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Serviceguard Metrocluster with Continuous Access
EVA.
Support for Oracle 11gR2
Starting with this version, Metrocluster supports Oracle 11gR2 single instance database
configured using Oracle ECM Toolkit. For more information on configuring Oracle single
instance database, see Oracle ECM Toolkit Readme. For information on supported
versions and the patches required, see Oracle ECMT toolkit support matrix available at
http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Serviceguard Enterprise Cluster
Master Toolkit.
Starting with this version, Metrocluster for RAC also supports Oracle 11gR2 RAC. For
more information on configuring Oracle RAC with SADTA, see the Designing Disaster
Tolerant HA Clusters using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters available at http://
www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs HP Serviceguard Metrocluster with Continuous
Access EVA. For information on supported versions and the patches required, see
Serviceguard/SGeRAC/SMS/Serviceguard Manager Plug-in Compatibility and Feature
Matrix available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Serviceguard
Extension for RAC.
Support for Cluster-wide Device Special Files
Metrocluster with Continuous Access EVA A.05.01 includes support for Cluster-wide
device files (cDSFs), supported with Serviceguard A.11.20 patch PHSS_41225. The
cDSFs ensure that each storage device used by the cluster has a unique device file name.
The cDSFs are available on HP-UX starting September 2010 Fusion release. HP
recommends to use a single cDSF group comprising of all nodes in the cluster, in a
Metrocluster environment. For more information on cDSF, see HP Serviceguard Version
A.11.20 Release Notes, September 2010 at www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs
-> HP Serviceguard.
While using cDSFs in Metrocluster with Continuous Access EVA, the device special file
name is same on all nodes across the sites since the World Wide Name (WWN) is same
for the source and target VDisk.
