Disaster recovery rehearsal in Continentalclusters

30
Complete the following steps to create a modular rehearsal package in a 3DC environment:
a. Create a package configuration identical to the recovery package configuration but without
Metrocluster with Continuous Access for P9000 and XP 3DC recovery module
dts/recovery_xpca3dc.
b. Change the values of the following parameters:
package_name
package_ip
service_name
For all other parameters, provide the same values as specified in the recovery package
configuration.
c. Validate the package configuration.
# cmcheckconf P <package_name>
d. Apply the package configuration.
# cmapplyconf P <package_name>
For information about how to configure a rehearsal package in Continentalclusters, see “
Configuring
Continentalclusters rehearsal packages as modular packages”. Unlike in Continentalclusters, in a 3DC
environment the recovery packages at the recovery cluster are created with dts/recovery_xpca3dc
module. Hence, while creating rehearsal packages, this module should be omitted.
Configure Continentalclusters configuration file
Configure the CONTINENTAL_CLUSTER_STATE_DIR parameter in the Continentalclusters
configuration file which is the absolute path to the Continentalclusters state directory where the state
related information required for maintenance mode feature is stored. Also configure the
REHEARSAL_PACKAGE parameter in the recovery group section with the rehearsal package
information in the configuration file.
For information about how to configure the CONTINENTAL_CLUSTER_STATE_DIR and
REHEARSAL_PACKAGE parameters in the Continentalclusters configuration file and how to apply the
updated configuration file, see the section “
Continentalclusters configuration”.
Rehearsing recovery in a 3DC DR solution
Complete the following steps to perform rehearsal at the third site i.e. at the recovery cluster in a
3DC environment:
This section describes how to perform a Continentalclusters recovery rehearsal in a 3DC DR solution.
The following steps can be executed from any of the recovery cluster nodes at the third site:
1. Verify the data replication environment.
Use the cmdrprev command to preview the data replication environment preparation for an actual
recovery. Run the following command on every node in the recovery cluster at the third site to
determine if the return value is always 0:
#/usr/sbin/cmdrprev -p <recovery_package>
2. Move the recovery group into maintenance mode:
# cmrecovercl -d -g <recovery_group>
3. Verify that the recovery group is in maintenance mode:
# cmviewconcl -v
