Disaster recovery rehearsal in Continentalclusters

3
Recovery cluster
It is a cluster on which recovery of a package takes place following a failure on the primary cluster.
Recovery package
In the event of primary cluster failure, the recovery package takes over at the recovery cluster.
Rehearsal package
In the event of a rehearsal, the rehearsal package is started at the recovery cluster.
R1
The Symmetrix term indicating the data copy that is the primary copy.
R2
The Symmetrix term indicating the remote data copy that is the secondary copy. It is normally read-
only by the nodes at the remote site.
Secondary mirror copy
This is a generic term used to refer to either SVOL in XP terminology or R2 device in
Symmetrix terminology.
SRDF (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility)
Symmetrix Remote Data Facility is a level 13 protocol used for physical data replication between
EMC Symmetrix disk arrays.
SVOL
A secondary volume configured in a P9000 or XP series disk array that uses Continuous Access.
SVOLs are the secondary copies in physical data replication with Continuos Access on the P9000
or XP.
SRDF device group
A Symmetrix device group contains one or more R1/R2 device pairs that belong to the same
Serviceguard package.
SSWS
This indicates that the PVOL is in the suspended state PSUS, and SVOL is in the failover state SSWS.
When the PVOL and SVOL are in these states, it is hard to tell which side has the good latest data.
When starting the package in this state on the PVOL side, you run the risk of losing any changed data
in the PVOL.
Three Data Center Disaster Recovery Solution (3DC DR Solution)
HP’s disaster recovery solution using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters over HP StorageWorks
P9000 or XP Three Data Center replication technology.
