Support for Three Links and Delta Resync functionality in a 3DC DR Solution
With the introduction of the following patches, the HP StorageWorks 3DC replication with Three
Links and Delta Resync functionality is supported in a 3DC DR Solution:
• Continentalclusters A.08.00 April 2011 patches (PHSS_41657 on 11i v2 and PHSS_41658
on 11i v3)
• Metrocluster with Continuous Access for P9000 and XP A.11.00 April 2011 patches
(PHSS_41663 on 11i v2 and PHSS_41664 on 11i v3)
• Metrocluster Data Replication Enabler Toolkit A.10.00 April 2011 patches (PHSS_41655 on
11i v2 and PHSS_41656 on 11i v3)
In a three link (tri-link) configuration, three continuous access replication links are configured
between the three data centers. A replication link is configured between Site 1 and Site 2 of a
Metrocluster and another two links are configured between each site (Site 1 and Site 2) of
Metrocluster to a far site, Site3. Using the third link ensures that the data replication is restored to
at least another site for any kind of data center wide outages. The Delta Resync functionality allows
quick restoration of the data replication to the third site by copying only delta changes. This feature
is supported for both 3DC Sync/CAJ and 3DC CAJ/CAJ replications. This feature is supported on
Serviceguard versions A.11.19 and A.11.20. This feature does not require Serviceguard A.11.20
April 2011 patch PHSS_41628.

Support for Device Group Monitor in a 3DC DR Solution
With the introduction of the following patches, the Device Group Monitor (DGM) is supported in
a 3DC DR Solution:
• Continentalclusters A.08.00 April 2011 patches (PHSS_41657 on 11i v2 and PHSS_41658
on 11i v3)
• Metrocluster with Continuous Access for P9000 and XP A.11.00 April 2011 patches
(PHSS_41663 on 11i v2 and PHSS_41664 on 11i v3)
• Metrocluster Data Replication Enabler Toolkit A.10.00 April 2011 patches (PHSS_41655 on
11i v2 and PHSS_41656 on 11i v3)
DGM provides the capability to monitor the status of all the device groups used in a package
configured in a 3DC environment, from the node where the package is running.
DGM provides the following functionalities:
• Sends a notification message upon the change in a device group status.
• Performs automatic resynchronization of the Continuous Access device group upon link
recovery.
• In case of the 3DC DR Solution using Delta Resync configuration, it performs automatic
resynchronization of the Delta Resync pair upon some of the failures that result in data not
being replicated over the active Continuous Access Journal pair to the third data center.
This feature is supported on Serviceguard versions A.11.19 and A.11.20. This feature does not
require Serviceguard A.11.20 April 2011 patch PHSS_41628.
