Continentalclusters Version A.08.00 Release Notes, March 2013
The following Continentalclusters features are not supported in a pre-integrated data replication
solution using HP 3PAR Remote Copy:
• Continentalclusters Disaster Recovery Rehearsal
• Support for Oracle RAC
• Support for complex workloads configured using SADTA
• Support for SLVM/CVM/CFS
All the limitations that are applicable to Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy are also applicable
to a Continentalclusters environment using 3PAR Remote Copy replication. For more information
on the features not supported by Metrocluster with 3PAR Remote Copy A.01.00, see Metrocluster
with 3PAR Remote Copy A.01.00 Release Notes available at http://www.hp.com/go/

New Features for the April 2011 Patch Release
Continentalclusters version A.08.00 with the patches listed under “Patches Introduced for A.08.00
for the April 2011 Enhancements” (page 16), provides the following new capabilities:
• “Support for Three Data Center (3DC) Continuous Access Journal (CAJ) Replication Between
Sites in a 3DC Disaster Recovery (DR) Solution” (page 6)
• “Support for Three Links and Delta Resync functionality in a 3DC DR Solution” (page 7)
• “Support for Device Group Monitor in a 3DC DR Solution” (page 7)
• “Support for Data Replication Storage Failover Preview in a 3DC DR Solution” (page 8)
• “Support for Disaster Recovery Rehearsal Operations in a 3DC DR Solution” (page 8)
Support for Three Data Center (3DC) Continuous Access Journal (CAJ) Replication Between Sites
in a 3DC Disaster Recovery (DR) Solution
With the introduction of the following patches, the HP StorageWorks XP 3DC CAJ/CAJ replication
is supported in a 3DC DR Solution:
• Continentalclusters A.08.00 April 2011 patches (PHSS_41657 on 11i v2 and PHSS_41658
on 11i v3)
• Metrocluster with Continuous Access for P9000 and XP A.11.00 April 2011 patches
(PHSS_41663 on 11i v2 and PHSS_41664 on 11i v3)
• Metrocluster Data Replication Enabler Toolkit A.10.00 April 2011 patches (PHSS_41655 on
11i v2 and PHSS_41656 on 11i v3)
In a 3DC CAJ/CAJ, an asynchronous replication is configured using Continuous Access Journal
replication between the sites in a Metrocluster, and the replication between the sites of that
Metrocluster and the third site, where the recovery cluster is configured. For many mission critical
application environments, high or peak workloads must be sustained and unless sufficient intersite
bandwidth is available for synchronous replication, applications performance can suffer. The use
of Continuous Access Journal asynchronous replication can mitigate this, and often costs less to
provision. This feature is supported on Serviceguard versions A.11.19 and A.11.20. It does not
require Serviceguard A.11.20 April 2011 patch PHSS_41628.

Recovery HA Clusters Using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters, April 2011 (5900-1484) available
