Continentalclusters Version A.08.00 Release Notes, March 2013
For more information on configuring complex workloads using SADTA with Continentalclusters,
see chapter 2 of the Designing Disaster Recovery HA Clusters using Metrocluster and
Continentalclusters available at: www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs.
Support for Oracle RAC ASM using SADTA
Starting with Continentalclusters version A.08.00, Oracle RAC database using Automatic Storage
Management (ASM) can be configured in Continentalclusters using Site Aware Disaster Tolerant
Architecture (SADTA).
Following restrictions apply while configuring Oracle RAC database using ASM in
Continentalclusters using SADTA:
• The ASM disk group must be configured with a multi-node package using SGeRAC toolkit.
This ASM disk group multi-node package (MNP) must be configured to have a package
dependency on the CRS MNP package to be up on the same node.
• The RAC database MNP package must be configured to have a package dependency on the
ASM disk group MNP package and CRS MNP package to be up on the same node.
For more information on configuring Oracle RAC database with ASM in Continentalclusters using
SADTA, see Designing Disaster Recovery HA Clusters Using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters,
April 2011 (5900-1484) available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP
Serviceguard Continentalclusters.
Support for Oracle 11gR2 as Single Instance and as RAC
Starting with this version, Continentalclusters supports Oracle 11gR2 single instance database
configured using Oracle ECM Toolkit. For more information on configuring Oracle single instance
database, see Oracle ECM Toolkit Readme. For information on supported versions and the patches
required, see Oracle ECMT toolkit support matrix available at http://www.hp.com/go/
hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Enterprise Cluster Master Toolkit
Starting with this version, Continentalclusters also supports Oracle 11gR2 RAC configured using
SGeRAC toolkit. For more information, see chapter 2 of the Designing Disaster Recovery HA
Clusters using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters available at: www.hp.com/go/
hpux-serviceguard-docs. For information on supported versions and the patches required, see
Serviceguard/SGeRAC/SMS/Serviceguard Manager Plug-in Compatibility and Feature Matrix
available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Serviceguard Extension for
RAC.
Support for Configuring Package Dependencies for Failover Recovery Packages
Starting with Continentalclusters Version A.08.00, a failover package configured as a recovery
package can have dependencies on other failover packages in the cluster.
Support for HPVM Packages in Continentalclusters
Starting with Continentalclusters version A.08.00, HP Integrity Virtual Machine (HPVM) (version
4.2 or later) guests can be configured as a primary or a recovery package in Continentalclusters
Recovery Groups.
For more information on configuring HPVM packages in Continentalclusters, see Implementing
Disaster Recovery for HP Integrity Virtual Machines with Metrocluster and Continentalclusters on
HP-UX 11i white paper available at http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP
Serviceguard Continentalclusters.
