1 Continentalclusters Version A.08.00 Release Notes Announcements Continentalclusters is a Hewlett-Packard high availability solution that provides disaster tolerant clustering with no distance limitation. Version A.08.00 of Continentalclusters contains enhancements and is released on HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 with the following product number: T2346BA - license, media, and documentation Version A.08.00 of Continentalclusters requires the HP-UX 11i v2 or HP-UX 11i v3 operating system.
• “Support for Data Replication Storage Failover Preview in a 3DC DR Solution” (page 9) • “Support for Disaster Recovery Rehearsal Operations in a 3DC DR Solution” (page 9) Support for Three Data Center (3DC) Continuous Access Journal (CAJ) Replication Between Sites in a 3DC Disaster Recovery (DR) Solution With the introduction of the following patches, the HP StorageWorks XP 3DC CAJ/CAJ replication is supported in a 3DC DR Solution: • Continentalclusters A.08.
1 and Site 2 of a Metrocluster and another two links are configured between each site (Site 1 and Site 2) of Metrocluster to a far site, Site3. Using the third link ensures that the data replication is restored to at least another site for any kind of data center wide outages. The Delta Resync functionality allows quick restoration of the data replication to the third site by copying only delta changes. This feature is supported for both 3DC Sync/CAJ and 3DC CAJ/CAJ replications.
Support for Data Replication Storage Failover Preview in a 3DC DR Solution With the introduction of the following patches, the cmdrprev command is supported in a 3DC DR Solution: • Continentalclusters A.08.00 April 2011 patches (PHSS_41657 on 11i v2 and PHSS_41658 on 11i v3) • Metrocluster with Continuous Access for P9000 and XP A.11.00 April 2011 patches (PHSS_41663 on 11i v2 and PHSS_41664 on 11i v3) • Metrocluster Data Replication Enabler Toolkit A.10.
NOTE: The DR rehearsal feature is not supported in a 3DC environment when the complex workloads are configured using Site Aware Disaster Tolerant Architecture (SADTA). Features Introduced in A.08.00 Continentalclusters version A.08.00 supports the following features: • Support for HP Serviceguard A.11.19 and A.11.
serve as both primary and recovery cluster for different packages. In the cascading failover configuration, the primary cluster can be a metropolitan cluster using EMC SRDF or Continuous Access XP. • Logical data replication of Oracle Databases is possible using Oracle Data Guard. Serviceguard Support for Oracle Data Guard in Continentalclusters is available in Serviceguard toolkit for Oracle Data Guard (a separately purchased product).
IMPORTANT: commands. Do not modify, delete, start, or stop this package using Serviceguard Support for Modular Packages Starting with Continentalclusters Version A.08.00, it is recommended to configure packages in a recovery group as modular style packages. The Continentalclusters monitor package on the recovery cluster can be configured as a modular package using the Continentalclusters supplied modular configuration file template.
workloads, such as Oracle RAC. Complex workloads are applications that are configured using multiple interdependent failover and multi-node packages. For more information on configuring complex workloads using SADTA with Continentalclusters, see chapter 2 of the Designing Disaster Recovery HA Clusters using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters available at: www.hp.com/go/ hpux-serviceguard-docs. Support for Oracle RAC ASM using SADTA Starting with Continentalclusters version A.08.
Support for Configuring Package Dependencies for Failover Recovery Packages Starting with Continentalclusters Version A.08.00, a failover package configured as a recovery package can have dependencies on other failover packages in the cluster. Support for HPVM Packages in Continentalclusters Starting with Continentalclusters version A.08.00, HP Integrity Virtual Machine (HPVM) (version 4.2 or later) guests can be configured as a primary or a recovery package in Continentalclusters Recovery Groups.
requirements for Metrocluster with Continuous Access for P9000 and XP, see the Metrocluster with Continuous Access for P9000 and XP Release Notes, available at: www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Metrocluster. If you are doing data replication with EVA series disk arrays, there are both hardware and software requirements.
For the Bastille security setup requirements for Event Monitoring Service, refer your version of the Event Monitoring Service release notes. Installing Continentalclusters Continentalclusters can be installed while the system is running in multi-user mode. 1. Run swinstall(1m) to install Continentalclusters from a SD depot. Select the following fileset: • T2346BA—Continentalclusters Continentalclusters files are placed in the following directories: 2. 3.
6. Disaster Recovery HA Clusters Using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters manual available at: www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs —> HP Continentalclusters. Re-apply the Continentalclusters configuration using the original configuration file. # cmapplyconcl -C cmconl.config 7. Start the ccmon package: # cmrunpkg ccmonpkg For information on migrating to Continentalclusters Version A.08.
If you are using the XP disk array with Continuous Access P9000 or XP for data replication, refer to the following: • HP StorageWorks Disk Array XP Business Copy User’s Guide • HP StorageWorks Disk Array XP Continuous Access User’s Guide • HP StorageWorks Disk Array XP Raid Manager User’s Guide • HP StorageWorks Disk Array XP Remote Web Console User’s Guide • HP StorageWorks P9000 Business Copy User Guide • HP StorageWorks P9000 Continuous Access User Guide • HP StorageWorks P9000 Raid Manager

Fixes The following defects are fixed in Continentalclusters Version A.08.00: Fixes for A.08.00 • QXCR1001056270 The cmrecovercl command fails to import CVM disk groups. Fixes for A.08.
Applications hang when all PV links are down • What is the problem? When all PV links to a disk array used by a primary or recovery package are down, the package applications accessing that array will hang indefinitely. The applications will not detect an error and cannot be killed. Even running cmhaltpkg will not stop the application. • What is the workaround? The default behavior of LVM is to retry access forever following a failure.
ERROR: The Product is not installed. • What is the workaround? Ensure that the version of HP-UX Distributed Systems Administration Utilities installed is greater than or equal to C.01.00.11 and the version of HP-UX Secure Shell installed is greater than or equal to A.04.50.021. Continentalclusters does not support OpenSSH • What is the problem? Continentalclusters does not get installed when HP-UX Secure Shell is not installed.
But the cluster with the name exists in the configuration. • What is the workaround? This can happen when the Continentalclusters user, conclusr does not have MONITOR access in the cluster configuration. To assign a MONITOR role to conclusr, see section Setting up Security with Continentalclusters version A.08.00 in the Designing Disaster Recovery HA Clusters using Metrocluster and Continentalclusters, April 2011 manual available at http://www.hp.
