Controller states
Table 7 lists the possible controller states and their descriptions.
Path states and attribute
Table 8 describes the path states reported by the Secure Path driver.
Table 7: Controller states
Controller states Description
Failed This state may mean a failed or offline condition because
the server cannot communicate with the other controller at
this time.
Operational The controller is available with a good status.
Unknown The server cannot communicate with this controller.

Path

Description
Active This state indicates that the path is currently used for the
I/O stream.
Available This state indicates that the path is available on the active
controller for the I/O stream.
Failed This state indicates that the path is currently unusable for
the I/O stream.
Quiesced This state indicates that the path may be valid, but has
been made unavailable for I/O.
Standby This state indicates that the path is valid on the standby
controller.
Preferred This attribute indicates that the path is preferred for the I/O
stream, across reboots.
