Installing Secure Path on a SAN boot device
Complete the following steps to install Secure Path for the first time on a SAN boot device:
1. Install HP-UX 11i v1.0 or 11i v2.0 on the Active-Active disk arrays LUN and boot the system.
2. Install Secure Path on the boot LUN.
3. Configure LVM with alternate physical volume paths to the primary boot volume path.
4. Use the vgextend command to record alternate paths to the primary boot volume path by en-
tering the following command:
# vgextend /dev/vg00 alternate_physical_device_path
Example:
# vgextend /dev/vg00 /dev/dsk/c14t0d1 /dev/dsk/c16t0d1 /dev/dsk/c18t0d1
The vgextend command extends the root volume with alternate paths.
5. Use the setboot command to modify the boot variables and to set alternate paths to the boot
LUN by entering the following command:
# setboot -a hw_path_of_alternate_boot_path
Example:
# setboot -a 0/0/2/0.2.1
Upgrading from the Web
To upgrade your Secure Path for Active-Active disk arrays software, access the upgrade package at
http://www.hp.com/country/us/eng/prodserv/storage.html.
This package is intended as an upgrade only. The patch depot upgrades AutoPath 2.xx.xx or Secure
Path 3.0x to Secure Path 3.0F SP4.
Complete the following steps for a successful upgrade:
1. Copy the upgrade tar package to a temporary directory (for example, /tmp).
2. Unbundle the upgrade files by entering the following commands:
# cd /tmp/Securepath
# tar xvf sp_v30Fsp4_web.tar
3. Verify that the directory contains the installation script install.sh and the following directories:
HPswsp_v30Fsp4
CPQswsp_v30Fsp4
4. Install Secure Path software on the server using the provided shell script by entering the following
command:
# ./install.sh
5. Select Secure Path 3.0F SP4 for HP-UX for Active-Active disk arrays when prompted. Follow the
on-screen instructions.
When the installation is complete and the server reboots (for HP-UX 11i v1.0 only, or you are
upgrading from Autopath 2.0), a subsequent swlist displays the following Secure Path output:
