Installation and Reference Guide HP StorageWorks Secure Path 3.0F Service Pack 4 for HP-UX 11i v1.0 and 11i v2.0 (5697-8001, March 2009)
If load balancing is enabled and you set the path as preferred, the driver marks the path as preferred,
but the path is not used as preferred until the load balancing is turned off.
If load balancing is enabled and you select a path, the system performs the following actions:
• If the path is on the standby controller, I/O moves to the standby controller and the selected path
is one of the active paths.
• If the path is on the active controller, the path continues to be used as one of the set of active
paths.
restore command
Once a path has failed or has been taken offline by one or more events, the spmgr restore
command lets you restore one or more LUNs to their preferred I/O path. This command lets you
manually restore all or part of a configuration when the auto-restore feature is disable.
The restore command provides the following options:
• # spmgr restore -d device
• # spmgr restore -r WWNN
• # spmgr restore all
A path to a device consists of an adapter (HBA) and a port on a controller (WWNN). A unit on a
storage system may be seen through several paths, for example, more than one HBA and controller.
The default for spmgr restore transitions all LUNs to their preferred controller and their adapter
if they are specified. By using one or more of the switches for this command, you have full control of
restoring preferred paths to the Secure Path for Active-Passive configuration.
Use of this command assumes the following important conditions:
• Paths were preferred previously. If paths to some LUNs are not preferred, no action is performed
on those units.
• Load balancing is currently disabled. If load balancing is currently enabled, no action is performed
on any path.
NOTE:
The restore command returns successfully if no restore action is taken by the driver. For example,
if the preferred path has failed and a restore is issued, the command is successful
Syntax:
spmgr restore [option]
Options:
-d <device> -- Restores all paths to the given device.
-r [WWNN] -- Restores all paths to the given array.
all -- Full system-wide restore.
NOTE:
WWNN is the World Wide Node Name of the Array.
# spmgr restore -d device
This command restores a preferred path to the specified device.
